Tomorrow sees the release of Guardians Of The Galaxy and Nova, as we begin the build-up to the Realm Of Kings event. Excited about the return of the Magus, I went back to read his first appearance back in Strange Tales Volume 1 #178 – 181, and I aim to read the rest of story in Warlock #9-15 later. These were reprinted shortly after the time of the Infinity Gauntlet if I recall correctly as the Original Warlock, so you should be able to find the back issues cheap. Back in the War Of Kings, Phyla-Vell was instructed to slay the Champion of Life at the precise moment she became Read more »

Get Pac-Man and Tetris on your tee
At first I wondered why these two pieces of clothing had to be conceptual, but I guess if you actually wanted to sell them legitimately you’d need the permission of Namco/Midway and Alexey Pajitnov. Read more »
Book Worship blog celebrates geeky book covers
Here’s a pretty amazing web site for anyone with any interest in old, geek-friendly book covers. Book Worship celebrates “graphically interesting” books from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, covering quite a lot of subjects including physics, sci-fi, maths, philosophy and fiction. Read more »
Play your vinyl on the go with the Linos USB record player
OK, the kids may have rejected even compact discs in favour of MP3 downloads and streaming Spotify playlists, but for some there’s still a lot of mileage in vinyl records. For those who aren’t scratching their vinyl (in a DJ kinda way, not in a careless way), but do have a record collection worth playing or converting to digital, the Linos USB record player could be the most portable solution. State of the Multiverse 20
My heart-strings were well and truly pulled last night as I read the start of this weeks crop, and surprising enough not by a black ringed zombie trying to eat it. However, on the matter of the Blackest Night, the latest instalment really picked up the pace. Finally out of the set-up phase, the story begins to move along at a fast pace, as the heroes begin to realise the gravity of the situation, we finally meet the Indigo Tribe and Ronnie Raymond returns! Sort of. I like Ronnie, and as much as I truly enjoyed John Ostranders run on Firestorm all those years ago, I always felt that Ronnie Read more »
Write on your mousepad? Scratch-N-Scroll lets you
My mousepad is constructed in such a way that my laser mouse works quite well on it (until I drop it off the edge onto the desk, that is) should I still wish to use it. However, the really innovative move by a mousepad manufacturer worried about dwindling sales is to… put a note pad on it. Yes, really. Read more »
State of the Multiverse 19
Comics are not limited as much as the music industry is, the ‘big labels’ of comics demand new and innovative creations, of both original characters and re-interpretations of (probably second-string) characters. Then again, if it ain’t broke…. Read more »
WoWeekly: World of Wacraft Full Toon Customization – Yay or Nay?
World of Warcraft has been offering a lot of re-customization services lately. It started with the Renaming service, then Male to Female (and vice versa) re-customization. And then they also offered re-customization in-game where you can change your skin color, hair, accessories and even your toon’s face by just visiting the in-game Barbershop. And then lately, they offered the Faction change re-customization where you can go from Horde to Alliance and vice versa. And soon, even race change is going to be available in 3.2.2! (Crap, I re-levelled a BE priest just so I can have a pretty toon. I used to have an undead one. Bleh) With all these Read more »
Microsoft bugging Best Buy sales staff to talk down Linux
Why are we not surprised at reports that the software giant is trying to discourage customers who may have heard of Linux and dare to challenge the sales staff at Best Buy, claiming that it’s difficult to install and use? Of course, Microsoft has been dissing Macs for a long time, mainly on the basis that they’re too expensive. Thing is, it’s hard to do that with Linux, given that it will run on exactly the same hardware (and in fact, less powerful hardware, too) as Windows bloated OS, and yet is available for free.
