Fireball
One of Disney’s recent attempts to gain a more solid foothold in the Japanese market is the production of the 3D animation “Fireball”. This series is about the daily life of your typical robot princess called Drossel (and we all know how popular robots are in Japan), and her robot butler, whose name has slipped my mind. Each episode is only a few minutes long and deals with some random event such as a human uprising, or a monkey stuck in a chair. OK, so Fireball might not sound that great (especially since there’s no plot), but considering how short each episode is, it isn’t that bad. Some bits are pretty Read more »
Create an activity clock on your refrigerator
I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve needed to know what time it is when I go the refrigerator for an evening snack. Actually, no, scratch that, I haven’t, but I can see some use for the DIY fridge magnet clock here. Read more »
State of the Multiverse 18
I want to move away from the two main universes today, and ask if you have looked at any of the offerings from Boom Comics. If you haven’t, then you are missing out. As well as a growing line of licensed titles for the younger readers, Boom has delivered some very entertaining and sometimes thought provoking titles. From the worlds of H P Lovecraft or international conspiracy, to a stunning new take on the now age-old ‘Superman gone mad’ storyline. With the first four issues already out in paperback, here is a story that is taking it’s time to reveal itself, and it benefits for that. Mark Waid’s ultimate super Read more »
Make your own cardboard box robot with iPhone attachment
Staff at new British tech site Recombu have obviously had some time on their hands recently, because they’ve been making “robots” out of cardboard boxes, baking foil and an iPhone running the MouthOff application. In fact, that’s the most technological part of the whole effect. If you’re comfortable gaffer taping your beloved Apple phone to the inside of a crisp box, by all means try it out yourself. Here’s the video with detailed instructions for doing just that. Should your first fancy dress idea of turning up to a party dressed as a Rubik’s Cube not work out, you can always fall back on this one. Via Read more »
YouTube find: Ping pong fighter
Here’s a fantastic video with some cool editing going on: Street Fighter 2 meets table tennis / ping pong. It would be great if the video was longer, with some more fancy moves, but this will do for now. Read more »
State of the Multiverse 17
I’m regressing again this week. Last week was a big week for the Marvel Zombies, but I have to confess, the Marvel Zombies Return #1 was somewhat of a disappointment. It didn’t grab me like the previous stories had done, in fact it seemed more like a sterile intellectual exercise, more a lower grade “What If?” than a story that will keep me coming back for more. The best zombie action was in my humble opinion in the Apeverse, with the Marvel Apes Prime Eight Special. A selection of Marvel Zombies, close to the original grouping but pretty obviously from yet another alternate arrive on this world, while the grand-daughter Read more »
False sense of security with Data Locker hard drive?
This hard drive may look fairly secure, being all rugged and fitted with a touchscreen for entering a numerical passcode to unlock the drive, but is it really that secure? It may well thwart the casual thief who, unable to simply plug it in to a spare USB port and peruse your precious porn stash data like it were a thumb drive, but anyone who really wants to get at your data probably isn’t going to have much trouble. Colorize your passwords for more accurate entry
Here’s a really interesting idea for those irritating (but reasonably necessary) password forms you have to fill in. Assuming you haven’t got all your passwords stored in some kind of manager, when you do have to type in a pesky passphrase, how do you know you’ve got it right? Read more »
Twitter "Good Morning" plotted on globe
Saying “Good Morning” on Twitter undoubtedly helps the naysayers maintain their viewpoint on the uselessness of the microblogging platform. However, there are plenty of people saying it, as this visualisation map shows: Read more »
