Three years after launching its Zune entertainment product, Microsoft has finally realized the need to make it international. Financial Times is reporting that Microsoft is about to launch its Zune entertainment brand outside of the U.S. Obviously, Microsoft has finally realized that they can’t compete with Apple’s iPod brand if the Microsoft Zune HD remains within the confines of the U.S. market.Alright, Microsoft fanboys who are not based in the U.S. This is it, your wait might soon be over. Although no defnite details have been out yes, it’s enough to know that Microsoft has bigger plans for the Zune product.
Apple’s iPod need a worthy rival. And the Microsoft Zune HD might just be it. Currently, Microsoft’s Zune product ranks only at number 4 in the U.S. mp3 player market – a mere 2% share of the market.
Microsoft has a lot of cathing up to do. Hope they do it right this time.

1Unfortunately this is merely referring to the Zune video service on Xbox Live, which we’ve known about for some time. No device/Marketplace announcements are solid yet.
