It’s amazing how much specialist hardware you can rack up if you’re a serious gamer. Not only do you want some kickass PC, probably custom built, and possibly even a gaming chair, but what you’re staring at is also important.
Standard monitors are OK if you’re running games from a PC, and an HDTV (particularly one with a proper lag-free gaming mode and low response time) is fine if you’ve got a PS3 or Xbox, but how about this going-on-ridiculous widescreen curved monitor?
Ostendo’s 43-inch curved gaming monitor not only boasts a 2,880 x 900 resolution — that’s a 32:10 aspect ratio, double the width of standard 16:10 computer monitors — but it can be run in a multi-monitor setup. This awesome video shows three of them linked together. Amazing for driving games, and probably many other games.
Heck, I wouldn’t mind three of these (or even two) to create a little cocoon for my blogging and coding work.
Super widescreen displays seem to be coming into fashion of late, with Philips deciding to make a 21:9 aspect ratio high definition TV. This trumps that, though ironically it’s still not the ideal vertical resolution for unscaled full 1080p high definition.
Never mind. This is first and foremost a gaming monitor. A monitor for gamers with a lot of money. Try US$6,500 per screen. Phew!

Awesome screen.
Wow… that is beautiful…
