Filled With Glee

Filled With Glee

Music geeks and singers (frustrated and accomplished alike) have found their TV show in the past year: Glee. Everyone knows about this series by now. It started as a “don’t expect much” show, I think; but after a few episodes were aired, more and more people took notice. Don’t get me wrong – I still am a HUGE fan of The Big Bang Theory (no one can come close to Sheldon Cooper) – but Glee is a different kind of show for a different kind of geek altogether. Last week, they showed the season finale, and while it was a bit disappointing compared to other episodes, it was still fun Read more »

Overanalysis of the Implications of Star Trek XI to Star Trek Online (2010)

We’re too excited for Star trek Online. I mean, who isn’t? Dear reader, if you think the ecstasy of being able to captain your own starship and go where no one has gone before from the depths of your basement isn’t all too appealing, then by Spock’s ears take a hike and click here. Star Trek fans have the tendency to over explain things (like me). And with due reasons — that’s what the series has been doing since TOS. So yes the devs are big fans too — I found this article hidden in the Star Trek Online website and with the release of the new Star Trek (XI), Read more »

Formspring.me: I know what you did last summer

Formspring.me: I know what you did last summer

This is it. This is exactly what we need. Twitter tells the world exactly what we’re doing. Formspring.me lets anyone — and I mean absolutely anyone ask you anything. HAH, this is the next affront to your peace of mind as you’ll start to ponder the truth behind who caved and told everyone if you slept with your really hot cousin. “I saw you picking your nose in public. Are you aware?” “Why are you so filled with drama?” “Did you know she really didn’t love you at all?” “Why are you funny… looking?” That’s Formspring for you. And yeah, people are asking for it. I’m seeing more and more Read more »

Eco-Friendly Lighting

Eco-Friendly Lighting

“Turn your lights down low And pull your window curtains; Oh, let Jah moon come shining in – Into our life again…” Bob Marley fans would recognize those words in a heartbeat, and while I am not that much of a Marley fan, this song has been playing in my head for the longest time. I guess my nighttime lighting at home just fits the song perfectly – or vice versa. Read more »

Plug In That USB And Smell The Love

Plug In That USB And Smell The Love

Well, maybe not love, but you will definitely smell something with the USB Aromatherapy Oil Burner that you can get over at ThinkGeek. It is probably not a novel idea – heck, practically anything or any idea that can be incorporated into the USB mold has been thought of! I would have to say, though, that if you are looking for a cool gift this Christmas that will not break your back, then this might be it. Read more »

Ravi Instant Wine Chiller

Ravi Instant Wine Chiller

I can always use a glass (or two) of good wine after a meal. While not everyone has a penchant for wine, those who do appreciate this drink know just how good it can be! Some like wine at room temperature while others like it chilled, and for those who want a little coolness to their wine, I have to tell you about the perfect gadget: Ravi Instant Wine Chiller. This handy gadget chills the wine (or maybe any other drink) as you pour, doing away with the need to wait for the bottle to get cold. You do need to keep Ravi in the freezer so that it will Read more »

Friendster for sale — SOLD!

Friendster for sale — SOLD!

Hey, remember Friendster? The social networking site that started it all in 2003 has been bought for lock stock and all 100 million registered users. The buyer — MOL Global Pte. Ltd. a leading online payment solutions provider from Malaysia had recently acquired 100% of Friendster. The net effect is the transformation of Friendster’s general look into … well, Facebook. You can’t really reinvent the wheel when it comes to social networking – your community will come and go, like it’s the next fashion statement. Facebook managed to reinvent themselves from the college networking site into the highly successful web product that it is today. To be fair, Friendster’s ultimate Read more »

R2-D2 1:6 authentic scale model coming in June 2010

We’ll happily report anything Star Wars related at Forever Geek, but when it’s been R2-D2 related we’ve been restricted to themed pepper mills, cameras and desktop trash cans. Thankfully that’s about to change, with news that a faithful 1:6 replica of R2:D2 is due to be available in June 2010 — that’s just five-and-a-bit months away. This limited edition model will feature eight special attachments including a periscope scanner, gripper and saw. There are slots for a light sabre and scopes in the head, while the torso has opening panels and the arms can be removed. Each R2-D2 is hand-painted, numbered and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It’s not Read more »

If social media websites were books: cool art

If social media websites were books: cool art

Turning tweets into a book is one thing, but what would happen if, by some bizarre magical experience, social media websites became books? Stéphane Massa-Bidal has some ideas. Check out the virtual book covers for Flickr, LinkedIn, Facebook, Wikipedia, YouTube, Tumblr, Twitter, MySpace, Last.fm and FFFFOUND. Each book cover has a cool illustration and subtitle, and all ten books have been designed to look as if they’re part of a series. If they were real books I could imagine them turning up on Book Worship. With traditional media increasingly winding up online, it’s an interesting concept putting Web 2.0 services into the context of print. Via Read more »
