I call my inner geek and try to fix things myself. Embarrassingly enough, I have to say that I fail more than I would like to. Second option: call brother-in-law who is really much better at fixing things anyway. If you’re in Britain, though, you have another option – a mainstream one, if I may say so: call Sir Richard Branson’s posse of tech handymen.
The news is that this prolific businessman has entered the technical support arena. Virgin Group has reportedly set up and launched a new company which offers service in this regard. Services include an online “self help” guide which will instruct consumers on how to do regular maintenance activities. There is also an option to connect through the Internet to fix other problems.
Dubbed Virgin Digital Help, the company is actually partnered up with Sutherland Global Services, a tech service entity. It is based in New York and has agents in the Philippines to handle phone in requests and questions. Home service is also available, which will be handled by British engineers, for about 90 pounds per visit.
Boy, does this guy have it all! He may not be the only one doing all these things and offering all these services, but he is the epitome of a jack-of-all-trades, isn’t he? From airplanes to music to mobile phones to tech support – what is next?
If you think about it, though, perhaps the better question would be, will Virgin Digital Help be able to provide quality and efficient solutions to its customers?

2That’s Neil Berkett you’ll be wanting, Franky. He lives just a few miles away from me. Do you want me to pop round and have a word?
