I saw the Apsiral clock on a programme about small businesses today and thought it would fit pretty well on Forever Geek.
We’ve covered a range of cool watches here, but when you need something a lot bigger for your wall, but a normal clock won’t cut it, the Aspiral could be the timepiece for you.
This kinetic energy clock is a bit of an investment, coming in at £350 ($500). 35cms (14 inches) in diameter and available in a range of colours, it represents three years work by Will Aspinall and Neil Lambeth.
It’s very easy to tell the time (at least to the nearest fifteen minutes). A single ball marks the time on a spiral index of the hours. As you’d expect, the markings get closer together towards the centre of the spiral. At 12 o’clock (midnight or midday) the ball drops down a channel at the back of the clock and begins again at the bottom.
The initial prototype was built out of beer cans and other scrap, and was a far cry from this polished product, which is hand built to order in London.
If you want one, you can order it from Aspiral Clocks.

Want! Wait, £350?!?!?!?
Aye, but… Want…
Or you could make your own. How hard can it be ;)
Thats about $540.00 in the U.S. cool but I’m sorry but this thing could be made and sold for a helluva lot less than that.
The average Recession Joe isn’t gonna spend half a grand on a clock when they can get a decent Chinese one at Wal-Mart for $5.
Another toy for the bored super-rich.
Do they have a beer can and scrap model? I’ve got $50.00…….
