Adobe shows off mobile version of AIR

Adobe shows off mobile version of AIR

Love it or hate it, Adobe’s AIR is widely used to power a number of desktop apps that interface with the web. Twitter clients and video streaming apps immediately spring to mind, but of course there are countless more. Now, Adobe has announced a mobile version of its AIR technology that will allow developers to create native applications for smartphones across a variety of OSs, including Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, Palm, webOS and Windows Mobile. It has been designed to take advantage of a device’s capabilities, including touchscreen, gesturing, accelerometer and GPS. It piggybacks Adobe’s latest addition to the Flash Player line, with version 10.1 announced to take advantage of the Read more »

iBook G4 becomes wall clock

iBook G4 becomes wall clock

Hey, Greenpeace, stick this idea in your pipe and smoke it. The older Apple notebook computers may not have been the most environmentally friendly on the planet, but some resourceful types have created a functional timepiece from their defunct iBook G4 instead of just chucking it on the scrapheap. In fact, I wish I’d seen this before I had to get rid of my iBook. As you can see, the screen portion, with iconic Apple logo, is the clock face, while the mouse is the pendulum. Assembling clocks in this manner isn’t too difficult, so you could probably use any old laptop screen to achieve this. However, there’s something special Read more »

Asteroids: how to eat a retro video game

Asteroids: how to eat a retro video game

I am not sure who has the most free time on their hands: Evil Mad Scientist for creating such incredible WTFs, or me for reading them. Probably EMS. The latest exciting DIY project from the labs is edible Asteroids. I’m sure it’s happened to you: been getting all nostalgic with some old video games, totally lost track of the time, and then realised you’re famished. The solution? Keep on topic with these Asteroids cookies. Lovingly hand-crafted, naturally. The penultimate comment: “Serve carefully arranged, on a dark background.” Take a photo, though, because they ain’t gonna last for long. Via Read more »

Katanagatari Animation

Katanagatari Animation

Any fans of Japanese writer Nisio Isin will know about his two most successful works so far, which have been turned into anime: Bakemonogatari and Katanagatari. The former aired in Japan last year, while the latter came out this year and is being released one episode per month. Few people can argue that Bakemonogatari had some impressive animation that fit the story extremely well, but Katanagatari seems to have taken a different path. Read more »

Panasonic’s Tough Tablet

Panasonic’s Tough Tablet

We’ve all heard about Panasonic’s line of tough laptops. There was one which could withstand a tiger attack. Who could ever beat that? Well apparently, Panasonic has thought of something new: a tough tablet. Not to be left behind by the hullaballoo that Apple is creating with the launch of the iPad, Panasonic has introduced their own tablet. Dubbed the H1 Field, this tablet is not your ordinary tablet. The specs are not that fabulous, to be honest. It is quite similar to a tablet that you would find many years ago. It runs on Windows 7 – downgradable to Windows XP if you wish – and has an Intel Read more »

Guaranteed ROFLMAO: Robot Unicorn Attack

Guaranteed ROFLMAO: Robot Unicorn Attack

ALLLWAYYYS I WANNT TOO BEE WITHH YOUUUU…… From Adult Swim, Robot Unicorn Attack is the pinnacle of the worst we can find in video game concept. It’s so bad, we love it. ….ANNNND MAKE BELIEEEVVEE WIIITH YOUUUU … You play as the Robot Unicorn, running at a constant speed across some marshmallow laden candy land with stars occasionally blocking your path. You can jump (and double jump) with Z and do a charge attack with X to break star barriers. AND LIVE IN HARMONY HARMONY ….. I really don’t know why I can stand playing it. It’s mysterious to me as it is listening to the Numa Numa song, albeit Read more »

Kratos Case Mod: Awesome!

Kratos Case Mod: Awesome!

What’s your favorite video game of all time? I am pretty sure that not everyone will have an easy time picking out just one game. Off the top of my head though, I would say the Sony’s God of War franchise is hard to beat. I am not really that good at it – I always need someone to help me get past the hard parts or the really puzzling situations, but I can play (and watch others play) God of War over and over again. You can then just imagine how awed I was when I caught a glimpse of this case mod: Thanks to PCWorld, my eyes were Read more »

WoWeekly: How To Kill The Apothecary Trio (Love is in the Air World Event)

WoWeekly: How To Kill The Apothecary Trio (Love is in the Air World Event)

It’s time for another world event if you guys haven’t noticed the sappy decorations in-game and people running around with hearts on the heads or little Peddlefeets following them around! The Love is in the Air world event started a few days and I’m relieved they made a couple of changes to the activities. I remember the Valentine’s Day even was quite different last year, like you had to collect cards and stuff. I didn’t bother doing them since it seemed so hard and bothersome. This year, they made the [Fool for Love] achievement a bit more bearable to do. Anyway, one of the more interesting changes they made is Read more »
