Danny Choo Anime

chinka 223x155 Danny Choo AnimeAfter years of networking, it seems like Danny Choo will finally get something he has been talking about for a while now, his own anime. Danny is probably the most popular self-proclaimed otaku on the internet, but most people know him better as the Tokyo Dance Trooper. Looking back now, it was really stunts like these that brought Danny to fame and fortune, not his love of anime or collection of dolls and figures. So now, 2.5 years later, what kind of anime can we look forward to from the famed stormtrooper?

Well, according to Danny, he has already set up his own anime production company called Mirai Fusion, and production of their first anime title is already well underway. The anime is titled “Chinka” and will mainly focus on four teenage girls that are in the fire department. More details can be found at Danny’s site. To me, it sounds like this anime is going to be another slice-of-life/comedy following in the footsteps of K-ON, one of the more successful anime in recent years. The character designs seem to be more on the cute side rather than the sexy, serious, or scary side, most likely to appeal to a wider audience.

Personally, I was a bit disappointed when I heard what Danny Choo’s first anime would be about; we’re talking about the Tokyo Dance Trooper here after all. You would expect his first anime to be about himself rather than some cute little girls fighting fires. He could’ve made an anime where he has dance-offs (dance competitions) against other sci-fi and anime characters in the streets of Tokyo. If anime can make baking bread exciting, there’s no reason why this idea wouldn’t take off, especially considering how popular the Dance Trooper videos on Youtube are. Alas, all we’re getting is another addition to the huge influx of slice-of-life/comedy anime that has been coming out in the last couple of years.
