Oh, Futurama. Another one of Fox’s great mistakes. Back in the day, Fox cancelled the show a’la Family Guy, but then left the property out to hang. Comedy Central started airing episodes, people watched it in droves and now, it’s finally coming back – to Comedy Central. For a while, there was a little bit of doubt that all of the original cast members would be returning, but it’s all been worked out now and the gang’s all back for more (who wanted to hear James Lipton as Bender, anyways?). My personal love of Futurama started a few years ago, with the repeats on Comedy Central. They were on so Read more »

Cute, cuddly Star Wars cartoon coming
Word broke today that George Lucas is planning another animated Star Wars television series — only this one will be targeted at kids kindergarten age and younger. Apparently there’s this line of toys for little tykes called Star Wars Galactic Heroes that features cutesy action figures that look like caricature cartoon versions of all the major Star Wars characters (it’s the same exact thing as Marvel’s Super Hero Squad), and ol’ George has decided to cash in on these toys by making a full-fledged TV show about them. Dumbest. Idea. Ever. Star Wars is a story full of death and betrayal and violence on a grand scale… Do we really need to Read more »
Lego + Prince of Persia = Awesome
There’s been a long history of movies based on video games sucking pretty hard. Street Fighter was horrible (both versions), Mario Brothers was spectacularly bad, and even James Bond: Goldeneye wasn’t that great. Wait, that last one was a video game based on a movie? Who knew? Regardless, they’re going to try again with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, out later this year. Now I have no idea if the movie is going to be worth a damn, and frankly, I don’t really care. But what I do care about is the new series of Legos based on the movie, and now they’re available at Toys R Us. Read more »
Facepalm: Windows 7 Phone Series Won't Have Copy & Paste
I’m an iPhone guy, and have been since the release of the iPhone 3G a few years back. But recently, when I first heard about Windows Phone 7 and saw a demo, I got very excited. That was a cool looking piece of software right there, and maybe something worth switching over. Then I heard about the drawbacks, clutched my iPhone in my arms and said, “Don’t worry baby, I’ll never get rid of you.” OK, I didn’t do that. We just spooned for a bit. Anyways, looks like Microsoft is making another spectacular blunder. Gadgetsteria is reporting that Windows Phone 7 won’t come with copy and past anymore. Why? Read more »
WoWeekly: My Initial Thoughts On Mastery System
Probably one of the biggest change that is going to happen when the Cataclysm expansion comes out is the implementation of the Mastery Stat System. For those who have been stuck in-game and have not even browsed the internet about the upcoming expansion, Blizzard is bringing in the Mastery System, a set of new game mechanics that will allow players to make their chosen talent trees more unique. Here’s how the system works: As you spend points in a given talent tree, you’ll receive three different passive bonuses specific to that tree. The first bonus will increase your damage, healing, or survivability, depending on the intended role of the tree. Read more »
Privacy give away?
Recently I noticed more and more people using Gowalla or Foursquare to “check-in” at locations they currently are at. Especially Foursquare is being used a lot here in the Netherlands. A couple of nights ago while playing with the iPhone I decided to download both and give them a try out. First Gowalla and then Foursquare. Well the first check-in with Gowalla while having lunch at a cafe crashed the app. And truthfully I rather enjoy lunch that restarting the app and trying to check in again. So basically it was an immediately deal breaker for that app. On Monday I decided to try Foursquare, while waiting for the train Read more »
Handheld gaming: the plot thickens
Until recently, the two major players in the handheld gaming wars have been Nintendo and PlayStation. The N has a strong history when it comes to handhelds, going back to the bestselling handheld gaming device of all time, the GameBoy. Sony has had significant success with the PlayStation Portable, an overall more powerful machine than any handheld device before it. In the last few years, the race has heated up, as Nintendo has upgraded its wildly popular Nintendo DS in increments (DS Lite, DSi, and the forthcoming DSi XL), while Sony recently released the PSP Go, a new version of the PSP meant to do away with the unpopular UMD Read more »
Focus On Zenescope
Now there’s an image. Captain Carrot alone in Calie’s Wonderland! ‘Cos that is one evil Cheshire Cat, and not even Roger Rodney Rabbit could keep his upbeat attitude after being chopped to pieces a time or two. I can see an inter-company crossover coming on. Read more »
More Toasters: Battlestar Galactica Spin-Off Picked Up
See that woman in the red up there? For those of you that don’t know, that’s the amazing Tricia Helfer, and me and her have a little history together. Alright, that may be exaggerating just a tad, but there is a story here, and it’s quick. Then we can get to the news. Cool? I was the executive editor of a magazine back in 2009, and with that lustrious title came the ability to pick and choose who was featured in the book. As a result, I had a few of my favorites picked out: Adam from Man Vs Food, Wil Wheaton, and I was really pushing for Oliva Munn – but Read more »
Gears of War 3 Teaser Coming April 3rd
I’m not a huge FPS guy. I’ve never really gotten into Halo, and although I loved Call of Duty 2, I’ve never played it on multiplayer. It’s just not my bag. But the series that I do love is Gears of War. The first time I played the single player campaign I stayed up all night trying to advance level after level until a few days later when I woke up from a Red Bull haze to see the final screen. When GOW2 came out, I was ecstatic, and I played that until the end game. It’s a fun series that has a decent storyline and good characters. It never Read more »
