Stealth Geek: Adidas X-Wing Shoes

Stealth Geek: Adidas X-Wing Shoes

Back in December, we told you about a new line of Adidas gear designed for the Star Wars enthusiasts. Like some kind of wacky hot tub time machine, here we are in the future – 2010 – and some of the shoes are out. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any sign of the dope Stormtrooper or Darth Vader models listed back then, but what I do have is all new stuff. Pictured above is the X-Wing shoe, with a multi-toned gray suede finish, and fancy orange accents to really top it off. It’s currently sold out, but at $100, it’s money. Next up is the Stan Smith 80s Millenium Falcon shoe Read more »

Photoshop Fun: Street Fighter Street Sign

Photoshop Fun: Street Fighter Street Sign

[photo via reddit] In 2005, I was dating this chick who I was just kinda into. She was alright, but she lived pretty far away and she smoked, so it wasn’t a good match. It was a Sunday afternoon, and I was out on a blind date with this small whale when I decided to fake an illness – I think it was anthrax poisoning – and bail out. Since I was all the way over on that side of town, I gave the first girl a call. “What’re you doing?” “Playing Mario Kart on the Nintendo64.” “…” A few years later we were married, and we just had our Read more »

Can "PlayStation Move" compete against Wii & Natal?

Can "PlayStation Move" compete against Wii & Natal?

At the Game Developer’s Conference today, Sony held a press conference where the name of its long-discussed motion controlling wand device was unveiled: PlayStation Move. The device has some obvious similarities to the Wii Remote, but it takes the same basic technology to sophisticated new heights, thanks to the PS3′s tremendous horsepower. The PSMove is made up of three integral devices: the PlayStation Eye camera, which has been around for a while now, and is used by the Move to track positioning; the primary PSMove controller, a wireless device that looks like a more ergonomic, black Wiimote with a color-changing ball on the end; and the PSMove sub-controller, a secondary Read more »

BSG Goes MMO – On a Related Note, I'm Locking Myself in my Room and Never Coming Out

BSG Goes MMO – On a Related Note, I'm Locking Myself in my Room and Never Coming Out

Raise your hand if you’ve ever spoken to Tricia Helfer, Six from Battlestar Galactica, for more than 10 minutes. Anybody? Oh, I guess it’s just me then. Back in September, I interviewed her for a magazine I was working for at the time. 30 minutes later, I had the best interview I ever did on MP3, and I couldn’t wait to write it. Then the magazine shut down, and I had no outlet for it. I even had exclusive pics, too. Bummer. Six was just one of the great things about that show. The interaction between humans and cylons, the constant drama and action – it was all worth every Read more »

Tron Legacy Trailer 2 Released

Tron Legacy Trailer 2 Released

Apparently, I’m on trailer duty this week. First Iron Man 2, now the sequel to the cult classic Tron, Tron Legacy. The newest trailer is out now, and it’s definitely worth the 2:20 run time, because this movie brings me back. My first experience with Tron wasn’t in the theaters, it was at the local arcade, just off of Route 9 in my hometown of Framingham, Massachusetts. Once a week, my father and I would head down there to plunk down $5-10 playing games. I’d be playing the arcades, while he’s play pinball, as per his pinball wizard dreams. I remember very specifically when the Tron game first came to our Read more »

Flying saucer projector

Flying saucer projector

Okay, so it doesn’t actually fly, but it sure looks like a flying saucer, don’t you think? It even has little fold-out landing legs! (Actually, I think maybe it was separated at birth from this thing from Star Wars. Or maybe one of those robots from WALL-E? But I digress.) This is in reality the OO wireless projector as imagined by designer David Riesenberg. The idea is that it’s the ultimate in projection simplicity, thanks to its sleek, circle-shaped design and its super-portability. It’s powered by an internal Li-Ion battery, allowing it to project for up to 3 hours straight, though it also has a built-in power cord. Let’s look at some Read more »

WoWeekly: Patch 3.3.3 Ready for Download!

WoWeekly: Patch 3.3.3 Ready for Download!

As of this writing, I am currently at 1.75MB of 77.3MB of Patch 3.3.3. Still a long way to go! If you’re on the same boat as I am and you’re noticing that your download is a bit slow, don’t panic, fellow WoW geeks. The patch download is only for preparation when WoW 3.3.3 actually goes live, which will probably happen in a couple of weeks. Like maybe next week, or next next week, or next next next week. I can’t really give a definite schedule since even Blizzard itself hasn’t given a specific date on when it’s going live. But at least we know Patch 3.3.3 really does exist! Read more »

Caprica – Worth the Watch?

Caprica – Worth the Watch?

I loved Battlestar Galactica, all the way until the last episode. Then I sat there, confounded, and wondering what just happened. That, and I really wondered why they took the lame way out and had them land on past Earth, and start civilization again. Just seemed cheesy to me, and a poor way to end the series. But I don’t want to let that last episode spoil the other 5 seasons for me, because the series as a whole was amazing. Great acting, excellent storyline, and lots of action. It was what I looked forward to every Friday night. Now we have Caprica, the show that depicts how the Cylon Read more »

New Iron Man 2 Trailer Up Now

New Iron Man 2 Trailer Up Now

I never read Iron Man as a kid. I was more into Batman, the X-Men and related teams, as well as Spider-Man to read about an alcoholic rich guy with a suit. As a result, I went into Iron Man the movie with just a few basic expectations, and came out ecstatic about the series and the direction it was going. Robert Downey Jr. did a spectacular job as Tony Stark, and everyone else involved did great, too. With the ending, I saw what Marvel was really trying to put together, and saw just how cohesively it was going to happen. Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk, Thor … The Read more »
