Cartography Nerds Attention: 10 Awesome Map Tattoos

Cartography Nerds Attention: 10 Awesome Map Tattoos

We here at ForeverGeek are big tattoo fans and urgently need more ink ourselves. And before you say something… no I’m not the only one here who post about tattoos. So I have something to admit. I love maps. Awesome maps are awesome. When recently my attention was drawn to this gorgeous whole back world map tattoo I wondered what more cool maps people had inked on their body and the result was not bad at all. The whole world, tattooed over both feet is a great concept and it looks ace. Too bad that Britain is barely visible and Eurasia and Africa need both feet. An ace tattoo though Read more »

Trek Nation, Documentary Trailer Released

Trek Nation, Documentary Trailer Released

Some things are part of the human’s race history and really need to receive much more attention than we actually give them. So even if that means we might have to educate you guys a little more from our ForeverGeek HQ, then we will. Let’s start today with a little quiz. If I say Star Trek, you say? No, not Spock! Of course Spock is ace, but Star Trek wasn’t just Spock, right. Let’s try this again. If I say Star Trek, you say? *sigh* I should have known you were all going to answer ‘Scottie, beam me up’. How could I have been this naive. Ok, let’s try it Read more »

Uncle Sam wants a flying car

Uncle Sam wants a flying car

Flying cars are standard issue for agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., in the Marvel Comics universe. They come in lots of different makes and models, but all have wheels that rotate, Back to the Future style. Now the U.S. military wants this oft-dreamt-about scifi vehicle to become reality. And all the geeks said: it’s about freaking time. Come on, we’ve been waiting forever for flying cars. Why has it taken this long to develop them? DARPA — aka, the government science organization that the Internet owes its origins to — has launched a program called Transformer TX that hopes to manufacture a vehicle that operates like a rugged SUV on the ground, Read more »

Eyes, Awesome Video Art by Passion Paris

One of the things I always wanted to learn, but never really found time for, or money to afford a camera which would get me of my chair and out there, is video art. I’m a big fan of Bill Viola, so when I say art I actually do mean Art. We already had some cool videos, although not always video videos, here at ForeverGeek but the next video is absolutely ace. That’s actually the stuff I want to initially learn. I guess I just have to stop hunting for the next LEGO post and open Final Cut, right? Eyes, by Passion paris. Read more »

The Recap: Gizmodo, the iPhone 4th Gen, and Beer

The Recap: Gizmodo, the iPhone 4th Gen, and Beer

Well, as much as I hate talking about rumors, fact is, this is a mammoth story, and it needs to be addressed here on Apple Gazette. This is going to recap the saga that is the 4th-Gen iPhone, Engadget, Gizmodo, Apple, and everything in between. But before we can talk about what it is and why it’s so important, let’s first discuss how this all shook out. On April 17, Engadget reported that they had been sent pics of the prototype iPhone. It had been left at a bar in San Jose, and the pictures were now being mailed to various tech outlets. It wasn’t said specifically, but at the Read more »

Diving Apo Reef: Taking JVC's Picsio FM1 underwater

Diving Apo Reef: Taking JVC's Picsio FM1 underwater

Last month I did a hands on with the relatively new JVC + Ikelite bundle that goes for USD $246 on promotion. This month I actually had the chance to test it out beyond 10 feet. I did two dives out into Apo Reef, the second largest contiguous reef in the world, next to the Great Barrier. It was rather special really as I joined the local chapter of the WWF on a three day tour of the area. I took 85 different videos 10 seconders on a single charge and stitched them all into the video you see above. I must admit, whenever I watch this “next day edit” Read more »

Doom remains!

Doomwar #3

The X-Men have been separatists since the Civil War, even operating alone during the Secret Invasion. If the Heroic Age is upon us, then it is only right they get a little more involved. The last time such a thing occurred (other than major events like House Of M or even as far back as the Bloodties crossover with the Avengers) was the original Secret Wars. They sure could use the good PR. Read more »

WoWeekly: Win Over $200,000 in Cash Prizes, Join The 2010 WoW Arena Tournament

I normally don’t care about the PVP aspect of WoW (I’m a raider!) but the announcement banner at the World of Warcraft website totally caught my eye. “Earn a Murkimus, Become a Vanquisher and Complete for over $200,000 in Cash Prizes!” I thought, “What the hell is a Murkimus?” After clicking on a few links, I got the answer:  a Murkimus is an exclusive Armored Murloc in-game pet. AMG! Let me say it again, an ARMORED Murloc in-game pet! Screw the $200,000 cash pricez, I just want the pet, haha! So World of Warcraft PVP fanatics, the 2010 World of Warcraft Arena Tournament in the US is now open for Read more »

Apple, when their popularity works against them

Apple, when their popularity works against them

I love Apple products, I bought my first iBook early 2004 and have been a 100% Apple user since then. I even allow myself the OS X vs. Windows discussion now and then with friends. But since the iPod made Apple more mainstream then niche it has grown in users outside the hardcore longtime Apple users. What follows is a rant against the current culture of complaining about a gadget but then buying it all together. Brought on by the release of the iPad and the recent leak of the iPhone 4G. Basically all Apple products. The biggest consequence of Apple becoming mainstream is the mindless bitching by users about Read more »

Join The Geek Generation Photo Contest

Join The Geek Generation Photo Contest

I love Geek Dad. I am not a parent, but I love their posts and how they talk about sharing their passions with their kids. For those of you out there who can relate – those who share their geekiness with their kids in an effort to impart some of it – I suggest you join their photo contest. The idea is to submit a photo (or photos) of you with your family doing something geeky. I am sure this is not going to be much of a problem; if you’re like any geek parent, you probably have tons of photos to choose from. Indeed, your problem might be in Read more »
