15 Things You Didn't Know About Star Trek

I just stumbled across this infographic about Star Trek, yes another inforgraphic, and had to share it here. I’m not a Trekkie but I did watch Voyager regularly when it was on TV. I only know one fact on this list and that’s the one about William Shatner selling his kidney stone.

Most notorious fact to me:

Zachary Quinto had to glue his fingers together to perform the Vulcan salute when he played Spock.

I feel good to know this because I don’t come even close to perform the Vulcan salute, I would have to glue my fingers too to be able to.

I wonder if there are Trekkies who don’t know some of these facts? Or maybe know some obscure facts that isn’t widely known.

A totally geek thought here: This seems like facts that Sheldon Cooper would have memorized to the dot.

  1. Adriana says:

Zachary Quinto actually can do the Vulcan salute, but only with his left hand. Spock always does it with his right hand, so in the scene where the Spocks salute each other, they had to glue the fingers of his right hand together. But he does do it with his left hand when he feels like it.

  2. Sara says:

Zach has refuted this rumor many times. He can do the Vulcan salute. They never had to glue his hands together. He had a hard time doing it at first, but he trained the fingers on both hands by using rubber bands. But he can most definitely do it.

  3. Interesting…. the rubber band idea is a good one. That’s what I call dedication to ones work.
