Forget moving to Saturn for a lifestyle change, if you’re smart you’ll try Titan, one of the giant planet’s satellites. Apparently the atmosphere on Titan is nearly perfect for creating life or so says a recent experimental study in which the moon is bombarded with nitrogen-rich atmosphere and then UV rays which in turn can produce organic molecules that form the basis for life. So how in the world did researchers attempt to recreate the planet’s atmosphere? Apparently they placed nitrogen and methane (two of the most commonly found substances on Titan) into a stainless steel container and then subjected them to constant UV rays. Read more »

Hulu comes to iPad
The rumors were true. Hulu has finally released an app for the iPad — but there’s a catch. Well, two catches, actually. First, you have to have an invite to access the thing. You can download and “tour” the app without an invite, but you can’t watch anything, so what’s the point, right? Second, this ain’t your daddy’s Hulu. This is Hulu Plus (aka “Hulu+”), a new version that you pay to access. Read more »
The Return To Greatness Of Green Arrow, and Army Of Darkness not so much.
J. T. Krul, who impressed me so much with his handling of the Titans in his Blackest Night mini has returned the Emerald Archer (in one single issue) to the levels of greatness of the eighty issue Mike Grell series of the late Eighties. Where as let’s face it, the Evil Dead/Army Of Darkness mythos (and Ash most definitely) is not and never has been ‘great’. Read more »
i5023: The Chinese Version Of The Big Bang Theory?
Do you remember that episode of The Big Bang Theory where the boys were playing with controlling their lights and then the some guys from Szechuan Province, China ended up controlling the lights in Sheldon’s apartment? (For reference, this is episode 9 of season 1: The Cooper-Hofstadter Polarization.) The Chinese geeks were what came to mind when I found out about a group of four young men from Fudan University; and unlike the characters in the TV series, these guys are for real. Wang Xinyu, Xu Jian, Zhang Kan, and Lu Yuanda have become celebrities in their country and have even been dubbed as the “Chinese Big Bang Theory” guys. Read more »
The Bees Sculpture
Dutch designer Tomáš Gabzdil Libertiny created a sculpture of Jesus as martyred Christ ricing form chaos. The sculpture is made of a laser sintered framework. The sculpture was then placed in a case made of glass sheets on top of two wooden beehives which grants worker bees access to the sculpture. About 40.000 worker bees then created a honeycomb skin over the sculpture and filled each cell with honey they produce. Then they removed the honey from the honeycomb to their beehive beneath the glass case. Read more »
Apocalypse: Yet Another Batman/Superman Mashup
DC is about to release yet another Batman/Superman movie, this time in the form of Apocalypse, yet another cartoon attempt for the company to make some extra cash. The movie is based off Jeph Loeb’s “Last Girl from Kyrpton” arc which is basically a sequel to “Public Enemies.” The movie is once again coming right to DVD so I’m not expecting anything spectacular. Here’s the synopsis provided within the DC press release for the movie: Read more »
The Best Use of Louis Vuitton Products You'll See All Week
There’s something totally wrong about Louis Vuitton and it’s not particularly the price tag. Who cares about price tags when there’s Dubai and hopefully soon Marvel Land or the huge amount of counterfeit articles making LV accessible to anyone who wants to inflate their own ego with some cheap fashion. The main problem with LV though is when men start using it as a ‘man bag’. Big was my surprise around 4 minutes ago when I finally saw a smart use of Louis Vuitton fabric: create bugs in LV design!. Yes, bugs. Sculptures actually but what’s in a name? Kyoto-based artist Mitsuhiro Okamoto set out and created 9 different sculptures, Read more »
Harry Potter Harry Potter Harry Potter!
Okay, so I’ve tried to come up with some other stuff to post about today, but I find it absolutely impossible to think about anything else but the new Harry Potter trailer, which Warner Bros. just posted today. And once you’ve seen it, you will feel the same. Seriously, this 2.5 minute trailer is more epic than the first six movies combined. Holy. Flipping. Moley. Just carry me to the theater now so I can start camping out. If you’d prefer to see it in full screen HD (which I highly recommend), head on over to Apple.com/trailers. Read more »
Glee Cast: Unwanted Comic-Con Guests?
Here’s your chance to voice out your thoughts on the uber popular TV series, Glee. We can’t deny that it has become so popular, but just how good is it? I will admit that I got hooked on Glee in the beginning. I couldn’t stop watching episode after episode. Then season 1 ended, and I tried watching the show from the beginning again. I couldn’t believe just how silly the storyline is! I couldn’t stomach watching it all over again! The characters are way too cliché. Has anyone noticed that they need representatives from every “minority group” out there? African Americans, geeks, physically challenged, Asians, and the list goes on Read more »
5 Epic Apple Fails
iMac. iPod. iPhone. iPad. Everything Apple touches turns to gold. Or does it? Apple’s history is filled with mistakes and outright failures — products that even the most ardent fans shunned, and that Apple itself would rather pretend never happened. We can all forgive Apple its missteps, because you can’t achieve the peak of coolness without shooting some blanks along the way. But it’s still pretty fascinating to look back and see how such a powerful company can get it so very, very wrong. USB “Hockey Puck” Mouse The flat, round design was supposed to be elegant and stylish, while the two-toned plastic was intended to be easy on the Read more »
