Can’t get enough of LEGO? Then here’s something that will have you squirming in your seats with impatience. LEGO just announced the development of LEGO Universe, a massively multiplayer online game (MMO).

GamePro treats us to the details of a behind-the-scenes demo given by NetDevil, the team behind the game development. The news is that the MMO will be launched on the 26th of October – that’s about four months of waiting! For those who cannot wait, October 12 is the date to mark. You can then go to a LEGO store to purchase the game before everyone else, AND be dubbed a Founder. How cool is that?

So what do we know about the game?

One, it will have ALL kinds of LEGO bricks ever made. There will be no frustrated player here, as the possibilities are potentially limitless. The game will be as realistic as possible – players can even follow real-life instructions to come up with all sorts of creations using the bricks.

Two, players create their own minifigs. These minifigs are practically immortal, but they do fall apart.

Three, the game is a bit similar to other LEGO games in that you can break objects and pick up various collectibles. Now THAT is fun!

Four, when you build objects, you can also set specific behaviors. As the guys from GamePro shared, the demo people made chickens and dinosaurs and made them behave in certain ways. Can you see the potential here?

Five, the game has a built-in “security” system that will serve as protection for players who are children. After all, we certainly expect a lot of children to fall in love with this game as much as more mature players.

Prepare $39.99 for the game, and $9.99 a month for the subscription.
