Remember my post about fantasy TV series? Well, here is something that might whet your appetite. HBO just released the teaser for the series A Game of Thrones. Based on the novel, A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, talk about the TV series has been going on for quite some time. The novel is the first of the Song of Ice and Fire series, one of the best high fantasy stories you’ll ever encounter. The plot is complex, and the good and the bad are not clearly distinguished. It’s much like real life – you have protagonists with bad sides and you have antagonists with good sides. I Read more »

Blue Beetle Transformation Looks Cool…Considering It's Made For TV
The Blue Beetle TV series was suppose to be debuted by Geoff Johns at Comic-Con, but today he went ahead and jumped the gun, revealing how the transformation will occur. Speaking in regards to the transformations stills Johns said: I feel very fortunate to have been a part of Blue Beetle’s introduction way back in INFINITE CRISIS. I’ve said it before, but thanks to the BLUE BEETLE series launched by Keith Giffen and John Rogers with a great design by Cully Hamner, Jaime Reyes rocks. Great character, great story, great look. He’s already appeared in animation, had action figures and right now he’s on my computer in live-action glory. I Read more »
Pac-Man vs. Mario
If you’ve ever wondered what would happen if the video game characters Mario and Pac-Man wound up in the same game together… wonder no more! This clever little hand-drawn short film shows exactly who would come out on top if these two icons were to go head-to-head. Read more »
USA Vs. England In World Cup Lego
Need I say more? The World Cup spirit has definitely caught on, and people all over the world – from all walks of life – are glued to their television sets just to watch the latest game. Earlier today, I saw the match between Spain and Switzerland. Spain, as some of you may know, is one of the favorites to win the World Cup. Surprisingly, they lost to Switzerland – 0 to 1. I guess it just goes to show that the predictions just might not turn out to be that good. Anyhow, here’s another surprising rseult – the US was able to eke out a draw in the match Read more »
Darkchylde Returns
Reading last weeks team up has made me reconsider Ariel Chylde as a valid character, demonstrating elements of teenage vulnerability combined with a slightly battle-hardened view, she is still obviously in recovery in coming to terms with her role. Read more »
Nintendo shows off the 3DS
“No glasses needed.” That was the message hammered home this morning at Nintendo’s E3 Media Briefing, where the new Nintendo 3DS was unveiled. No price or time frame was given, but E3 attendees are being offered the chance to play with the new device themselves. Nintendo has not yet revealed the 3DS‘ full specs, but here’s what we do know. The touchscreen, on the lower panel, offers more precision than the DS’ touchscreen, and although there’s a “telescoping stylus” that comes with it, extending to four inches in size, players at E3 are being encouraged to use their fingers. The touchscreen has a 320×250 pixel resolution. Up top is where Read more »
The Coolest Game Of Chess You'll Probably Never Play [Lego]
Building a chess board out of Lego is a feat even a 5 year old could master with a little help, but creating a fully interactive game of Chess Lego’s tied together by wireless computer trickery is a completely different story. The board was developed by a group called Team Hassenplug and features a 12.5′ by 12.5′ chessboard. The cost? $30,000 over a one year period which was used for developing the systems software and purchasing more than 100,000 Lego pieces. Here’s a video of the game in action: (after the break) Read more »
The Facebook Effect
Some people have all the luck, don’t they? Take what’s his face – the dude who “invented” Facebook. Mark Zuckerberg’s his name, I think. Just several weeks ago, I wrote about a movie being made about him. Dubbed The Social Network, it’s not exactly flattering, from what I hear. Still, how many guys in their 20s have their lives made into movies? (Okay, so there’s more than a handful, but still!) So anyway, this time, a book has been published about Facebook – if not exactly about Mark Zuckerberg. (I just now realized how his last name can take on an entirely different meaning if the first letter was pronounced Read more »
Life-size Wooden Spacecraft Sculptures
I like art, not the “Frasier” kind of like art but I now and then see paintings in display when walking pass by galleries that I would like to have. So I’m always delighted to see some new kind of art. A while ago I wrote about Mario Bros. La Pietà sculpture. A great example of how modern topics are used in an art form. Australian artist Peter Hennessey came with the great idea to create live sized wooden sculptures of several spacecrafts such as The Hubble telescope and the Lunar Rover. We never really get to see spacecrafts, it’s not as they can get the Mars Rover back and Read more »
Six Degrees Of Genius [Kevin Bacon Flowchart]
It’s believed that everyone in the world can be linked together by no more than 6 degrees of separation and of course all those connections lead back to Kevin Bacon, so why not put that knowledge to “good” use with a handy flowchart of genius. The chart, which shows how Pablo Picasso and Mark Twain are attached to Mary Shelly and various other brainy counterparts is well thought out and even color coded to show which group each person fits into such as actors, architects, painters and others. The chart even breaks each connection up into Friends, Lovers and Family to show how far the connection must go before a Read more »
