Race The Movie

I have a long list of movies that I still need to watch – many of them are not showing in the cinemas anymore. You’d think I’d go see those movies first before adding another one to my list, but this new computer animated film just caught my eye. Dubbed Race, this movie just might be a breath of fresh air.

About a week ago, I saw an e-mail from an unknown sender in my Inbox. It was from Jim of Hyper Image, the company behind the movie. He was asking if I would be interested in writing about the movie. At first, I was hesitant as I don’t see myself as a good movie critic, but when I saw the trailer on YouTube, I changed my mind. After all, I would not be critiquing the movie!

So what made me change my mind? The story itself does not seem to be groundbreaking. It follows the usual science fiction plot – there’s an interplanetary peacekeeping alliance and it’s being threatened by troublemakers. A group of extreme racers discover the plot and the existence of their worlds depend on these people.

What caught my interest is the graphics. Yes, it’s all computer animated graphics but the teaser tells me it might just be worth watching. Take a look at some of these shots.

The DVD was released on the 25th of May and you can buy your copy from Phase4Films. Their target audience is the younger generation, but who says oldies with young hearts can’t appreciate something like this? Movie/sci-fi/comic enthusiasts – what’s your verdict?

cant have scifi without a blue skinned lady in skimpy clothing now can we? ;)

Yeah – same exact thought that crossed me mind. This blue-skinned lady is a tad bit cuter than the “first” character of the same color, though, don’t you think?

Just watched “Cat Shit One” before I saw this..

Loses out to “Cat Shit One”… shame to admit it’s a movie while “Cat Shit One” is supposedly an animated series.
