Geeks vs. Geniuses

Geeks vs. Geniuses

When I say Geek, I am referring to the geeks of Best Buy’s Geek Squad; and by Geniuses, I mean the boy wonders at Apple. I am pretty sure that you already have your own opinions – whether they are based on experience or not, I don’t know. Zack Stern of PCWorld took it upon himself to carry out a test to determine who’s smarter of the two groups. What he did was to create a test comprised of seven “platform-agnostic” questions. These questions are based on real-life issues that real people have encountered. Read more »

Cat Shit One – Review

Cat Shit One – Review

You may recall seeing a trailer last year for a new animated series called Cat Shit One. Well, the wait is over and the movie is finally out. The story takes place in a fictional place in a fictional world where cute little bunnies can speak, walk on two legs, and take on a village of terrorist camels (yes, the ones with the humps on their backs). The main characters are two bunnies called Packy and Botasky, who are both mercenaries working in the desert. Packy is the leader and the more confident one of the two. He is a well-rounded soldier that is skilled with rifles, pistols, knives, Read more »

Sharktopus Gets Official Trailer. It's Full Of Awesomeness

Sharktopus Gets Official Trailer. It's Full Of Awesomeness

I never thought I would see the day when a SyFy original movie would please me more than the Declan O’Brien helmed Rock Monster, but that’s exactly what happened today when I spied the Roger Corman produced Sharktopus. How could you possibly not want to watch a move where a shark is combined with an octopus that can spit ink and tear you apart with razor sharp teeth. If that isn’t enough for you, there’s a ridiculous “plot” and I use the word “plot” lightly with a ton of girls wearing pretty much nothing. For the ladies there’s also a bunch of hunky guys…unfortunately both sexes get equally torn apart. Read more »

Comics without copyright?

Comics without copyright?

I had been thinking the past few days about copyright in regard to comics, what with the successes of Dynamite with Project Superpowers and the Black Terror, even as the original Daredevil also appears in the pages of the Savage Dragon and had been a background staple in the pages of FemForce. There have also been hints of characters mentioned in JSA history that I think have fallen into the public domain, such as the The Spider int he lead up to the first appearance in that tile of the King Of Tears. I’ve been reading over at TechDirt (totally comics unrelated) how copyright itself seems to be an inhibition Read more »

The perfect pour: An infographic for any coffee lover

The perfect pour: An infographic for any coffee lover

Two weeks ago I wrote about 15 Things you should know about caffeine. In the comments section a reader explained why decaf coffee does not taste as good as regular coffee. I drink my coffee at three places, Starbucks very once in a while, the bagel shop and the sandwich shop. Their decaf coffee varies with Starbucks and the bagel shop having the best one and the sandwich shop an ok one. But, a big but, the type of coffee you drink can also influence the taste for better. Here is a infographic with all kinds of coffee and of which parts they are made, milk, chocolate, steamed milk, etc. Read more »

London tries to terrify the world with Olympic mascot

London tries to terrify the world with Olympic mascot

Why does London want to give the world night terrors? What did we ever do to Great Britain? The official mascot of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Wenlock, is one of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen. I think they tried to appeal to us geeks by tech-ing it up, but it just looks like the angry love child of Leela from Futurama and the liquid metal Terminator. I think he’s about to shoot a beam of energy out of that great big evil eye and make me melt like that Nazi guy in Raiders. I keep hoping it will point that eye someplace else, but it follows me Read more »

Periodic Table of Swearing

Periodic Table of Swearing

WARNING BEFORE you click to enlarge: A LOT of profanity in that image. If that’s not your style, never mind clicking. We all love the Periodic Table of Elements, don’t we? This one’s here not your ordinary version, though. The guys at Modern Toss Shop created their own and dubbed it The Periodic Table of Swearing. Just in case you don’t know your cuss words, here is a handy reference you can check out anytime you need to. By the way, it is specifically for those of us who speak “American,” as the cuss words are supposed to be British-style. You can get these print outs for 90 GBP, but Read more »

Turning a human into a video game avatar

Turning a human into a video game avatar

EA Games has come up with a rather unique promotion to celebrate the release of their new MMO, APB: All Points Bulletin. They’re slowly transforming a human man into an in-game avatar. After a suitable guinea pig was selected, fans of the game at thehumanavatar.com are now voting for how they want this new game avatar to look. The “lucky” man in question, a 25-year-old British freerunner known only by his first name, Josh, is undergoing changes to his appearance based on what the fans vote for. First up was his haircut, which has been altered into a blue tri-mohawk thing (pictured above), and that’s only the beginning. In coming Read more »

Green Lantern Costume Revealed, Brings 21st Century Look

Green Lantern Costume Revealed, Brings 21st Century Look

The new Green Lantern costume has been revealed on the cover of Entertainment Weekly and in my opinion Hal Jordan (played by Ryan Reynolds) has never looked better. The suit was created using CGI and it gives off an “alien” type feel with glowing accents that brings the costume into the 21st century. I also really like the glowing eyes and ring on the costume. My biggest fear was that the costume would stray to far from the original, instead it manages to stay true to form while adding a bit of eye candy. Read more »

The tale of the Comic-Con bags

The tale of the Comic-Con bags

The gigantic Warner Bros. bags at Comic-Con are legendary. Comic-Con is known for its cool freebies — especially if you attend the big panels — and chief among them is the big canvas bag that Warner Bros. gives out to hold all of your other loot in. These things are seriously huge, more than 2 feet by 2 feet, and with a big strap so you can sling it over your shoulder, and a compartment on one end that serves as a perfect poster tube. Take it from an experienced con-er, you get a WB bag, and you’re good to go for the whole week. This year, obtaining a WB Read more »
