Tetris Jewelry on Facebook

Tetris Jewelry on Facebook

Tetris is arguably the best video game of all time. You can find people aged 2 to 92 playing this game, decades after it was created. Unsurprisingly, its popularity has gone beyond the actual video game. Today, we find all sorts of accessories that are Tetris-themed. Just the other day, I discovered a page on Facebook dedicated to this addictive game – Tetris Jewelry. These colorful pendants are really cute. Whether you’re at the beach or out in town, they will suit you just fine. Read more »

Big questions for a little Ant

Big questions for a little Ant

With Electric Ant #4 due to ship today, I thought I would dip my toes in the previous issue. I have not followed it from the start, nor have I ever read the original Philip K Dick story it is adapted from. So, diving into the middle of the story with this total absence of knowledge, I have to say…. Read more »

NASA: the video game

NASA: the video game

It continually amazes me how little love the space program gets. From the media, from the public at large, you name it. It seems that no one but space enthusiasts bother to care about any of the work NASA is doing — you know, unless they do something huge, like land on Mars. Nevermind the endless triumphs and scientific advancements along the way that it takes to get there. NASA is in the business of trying to understand the universe, and discover our origins. How can they not be in the news every day? Well, okay, even I have to admit that a lot of what they do is pretty Read more »

Back To The Future Shoe Laces Become An Ugly Reality [Video]

Back To The Future Shoe Laces Become An Ugly Reality [Video]

Okay, so we don’t have hover boards or flying DeLoreans that can travel through time yet, but one enterprising person has developed a pair of self lacing power shoes. If you’ll recall in Back to the Future when Marty McFly arrives in the future he puts on a pair of Nike’s which auto tighten their laces when the tongue of the shoe is pulled, now using a special power attachment that sits behind the heal of the shoe those laces actually exist, albeit in a much more bulky fashion. Dissection goes virtual

Dissection goes virtual

In college, we had to dissect a baby pig. The smell was so strong that to this day the scent of cold ham turns my stomach. Too bad we didn’t have this. From the Media Lab of Emantras comes Virtual Frog, an iPad app that allows you to dissect a frog virtually but very realistically. It’s all of the anatomy lesson with none of the gross touching or smelling. Read more »

I Kissed A Nerd [Music Video]

I Kissed A Nerd [Music Video]

Katy Perry might not lock her lips around the girls, but for the “nerdier” demographic there’s Damsels of Dorkington and they are more than willing to get all romantic with the “nerdier” music crowd. “I Kissed A Nerd” was written and performed by Blythe Renay and Rissy Pelot, with co-writing by Rissy Pelot. The music video was edited by Emery Emery. How can you not love a music video where a hot girl is giving some much needed attention to Darth Vader and his Storm Troopers, while providing some shoutouts to Starcraft archons and Counterstrike, plus various other idols of geekdom. Optimus Prime in Your Xbox

Optimus Prime in Your Xbox

Don’t those guys who do mods amaze you? They actually create something (almost) new out of something that countless other people own, and for the most part, they do a good job. Well, I guess we only really see those mods that are cool. (Why would you want to post your mods online for the whole world to see if they suck anyway?) So I ran across this Xbox 360 mod that will not fail to impress; that is, if you’re an Xbox 360 fan (which I really am not) and a Transformers fan (which I am) combined. Created by Edanna, this once ordinary looking Xbox 360 is now a Read more »

Visit Central Perk in Beijing

Visit Central Perk in Beijing

While the TV show “Friends” ended six years ago, it’s still one of the most popular TV shows today with daily reruns all over the world. I’m one of those big fans, owning the complete DVD set which I have watched countless of times. Other die hard fans can agree after watching it over and over again everything is pretty much imprinted in your brains, the apartments, the quotes and Central Perk. Central Perk has become my measurement to other coffee shops, I know of one shop that comes close but their coffee sucks. But who can forget the comfy orange couch, Phoebe’s guitar, and the wooden table which till Read more »
