Nothing screams “I’m a geek” more quickly than placing a bar of soap in your bathtub that’s shaped like the TARDIS from the popular sci-fi show Dr. Who. That statement holds especially true when the bar of soap is just so darn close in appearance to the actual TARDIS. Available at Geeky Clean for just $7 here’s a description of the TARDIS soap: Read more »

Summer 2010 Anime: Girls, Battles, and the Supernatural
We’re now into the first week of July and that means a new season of anime is coming out. Ignoring sequels and OVAs, the season’s titles can be grouped into three categories. Girls Anime with lots of pretty girls, or one super-pretty girl, have been around for ages and there’s always at least a few in every season. With five titles (Amagami SS, Asobi ni Iku Yo, Ookami-san to Shichi-nin no Nakama-tachi, Seitokai Yakuindomo, and Shukufuku no Campanella) this summer is no exception. While this type of anime is usually described as romantic comedies or just romance, many people refer to them as bishoujo (literally, pretty girl) anime mainly because Read more »
15 Things You Should Know About Caffeine
When I think caffeine I always think coffee, I barely stand still to the fact that cola and tea amongst others also contain it. I never drank coffee, did not like it at all. It was thanks to having dinner at an Italian bistro which served good cappuccino’s that I started liking coffee. And when Starbucks opened at the train station that I frequent I really got into coffee. Not that I am a coffee expert, but I guess having never drank coffee before it’s nice to have a new drink and new taste. A warm drink to relax at times. I now understand the appeal of hanging out in Read more »
Spiderkid
A British boy genius named Hibiki Kono has transformed himself into a real-life wall-crawler. So enraptured of Spider-Man was 13-year-old Kono that he constructed a device that allows him to scale walls by crawling up them. Entirely on his own, he spent five months working on a gadget that connects two vacuum cleaners to a pair of “giant suckerpads,” which uses tremendous suction power to allow him to cling to walls. It appears to work on walls of all kinds, even brick. The only caveat for the machine’s use is that it’s powered by a regular electrical cord plugged into a wall outlet, so it can only go as high Read more »
Mystery Object Circles Distant Star, Possibly Breaks The Laws Of Physics
There’s nothing like waking up at NASA one day and realizing there’s an object orbiting Distance Star that shouldn’t be there, but that’s exactly what has happened this week. The object circling the star is 500 light years away and is said to be eight times larger than Jupiter and according to Discovery News it breaks the laws of physics, or at least the laws scientists on Earth have developed. If the object is a planet everything scientists known about planet formation could be taken into question, although at this time scientists are not sure that what they are seeing is in fact a planet and not another random object. Astonishing Snark-Men
You know, I love Warren Ellis. Even hampered by not writing a mature-readers title, he has a razor sharp wit and the ability to put into words many of the emotions we feel about our favourite characters. Take this weeks Astonishing X-Men #34. If like me you have been more than disappointed with the last couple of years characterisation of Scotts Summers, Cyclops Read more »

Wonder Woman's new look
Check it out, guys and gals. After 69 years in (pretty much) the same costume, Wonder Woman is finally updating her look to something more modern and realistic. And why shouldn’t she? Superman‘s costume may be iconic, but most other major superheroes — including A-lister Batman — have undergone changes since they were first introduced. DC Comics has always aspired to make Wonder Woman the third member of its A-list trio, but her books never sell anywhere near the Top 20 like her male counterparts. Issue #600 of Wonder Woman finds fan-favorite writer J. Michael Straczynski reimagining her origins. Instead of being raised as Amazon royalty, Diana was smuggled from Read more »
Space Pirate Captain Harlock Goes CGI [Movie Trailer]
A trailer for Space Pirate Captain Harlock recently washed up and the CG-animated trailer with ensuing space battle looks downright cool. Check out the attention to details from the front of the ship right down to Harlock’s facial scar. The trailer was shown off at the Tokyo Anime Fair and was met with a great reception. The landscapes are unique, the CG-animation looks like the original anime series or at least close enough to satisfy fans like myself. Read more »
15 Funny Geeky Pick Up Lines
I just finished watching the season finale of The Big Bang Theory, and I think I am still a bit hung over from spending hours with Sheldon, Leonard, Wolowitz and Raj.
