Everybody knows “brick artist” Nathan Sawaya, and his amazing, life-sized LEGO art. And you may have heard of Sean Kenney, who builds incredible, giant-sized reproductions of objects, animals, and buildings out of LEGO Bricks.
Now we can add to their ranks Adam Reed Tucker, a former architect who today teaches people about the engineering and design that goes into constructing modern skyscrapers by reproducing some of the world’s most famous buildings in a medium that everyone can understand: LEGO. Click through for more photos of his amazing work, as well as the special product line he’s developed.
His gigantic LEGO skyscrapers have been such a success, he’s partnered with The LEGO Group to release a new “LEGO Architecture” product line. Each LEGO Architecture kit — all of which were designed by Tucker himself — recreates Tucker’s building models in miniature.
Unfortunately, the LEGO Architecture kits seem more expensive than other LEGO kits. But they’re also not easy to find, as most toy and department stores don’t carry them. You can order them directly from Adam Reed Tucker, who signs each kit he sells himself, or from other online retailers like Amazon, which has most of the kits available at prices discounted up to 30%.
As for his gigantic-sized exhibition pieces, it’s not unusual for them to contain more than 500,000 bricks. Tucker’s work has placed him among the elite LEGO Certified Professionals — of which there are only eleven in the world. His exhibition pieces are on display at the National Building Museum in Washington DC until September 5, 2011.
