Yep, it’s for real. Insert this bad boy in any Atari 2600 console, and it actually plays. Granted, this ain’t your daddy’s Halo. It’s more like your great-grandfather’s. It’s not a side-scroller, it’s more of an adventure title, made up of fewer pixels than your standard Gravatar icon. Only 100 of these cartridges have been made, but don’t fret: you can also play it online, right now. Read more »

Krona in the movies?
I may be a week behind the curve, but I have just read about Krona being included in the Green Lantern movie. I am totally in favour of this. Of course, it makes sense, how on Earth could you introduce the Guardians Of The Universe (or as we all know and love them, the Cosmic Smurfs) to a wider audience without including their greatest shame? One point that IGN suggested was Or perhaps this could be an opportunity to explain the franchise’s multiple continuities not unlike what J.J. Abrams did with Star Trek. This makes a lot of sense, and unlike the Marvel franchise of movies which seem to be Read more »
Support Hyde and Geek’s Tweetathon for Kids Need to Read
Prior to today, I had no idea about the existence of the blog Hyde and Geek. I am glad I discovered it just in time as Scott (the blogger) is holding a 36-hour tweetathon for the benefit of a group called Kids Need to Read, “a national nonprofit charity focusing on promoting childhood literacy and addressing the crisis in library funding that currently exists in the United States. Donating exciting, new books to schools, public libraries, juvenile offender facilities, and urban after school programs, the foundation works to develop a lifelong love of reading and an awareness of social responsibility in all children.” Read more »
Veruca Salt Speaks: Gimme These Comics Back NOW!
If I had a magic wand, I’d wave it over lots of aspects of comics to create my ideal world – a world where great titles are never canceled, every character I fancy receives his or her own series, and super groups are formed at my mere whim. Unfortunately, I have yet to be given such an all-powered implement (although I’ve heard one’s on order), so the best I can do is create a list of things I’d do differently and, well, bitch a bit. Oh who am I kidding? I’m gonna bitch a lot. Consider me the Veruca Salt of comic book geeks. First up in the grand scheme Read more »
Fflick: Movie Advice From Twitter
I never follow movie critics, in my experience they always give movie I end up liking bad reviews. Thanks to just trusting other movie goers and of course my own taste I almost never end up watching a bad movie at the theater. Some movies create such buzz and do live up to the expectation like Inception that chances are good that you will enjoy it. Avatar also created a lot of hype, I liked it but did not think it was that great either. If you are like me and are picky on which movies you are going to spend money watching at the theater instead of on DVD Read more »
Is user-generated content the future of gaming?
EA Games has joined in the user-generated content fad by announcing Create, a new “EA Play” title that looks like a platformer where players can create their own environments and puzzles. Hmm, why does that sound so familiar? Could it be because user-generated content is ever-so-fashionable? Read more »
Learn Science the Artsy Way
Science class was always fun for me – except when we had to dissect a frog. The theories, however, were a never ending source of fascination. Now art, that’s a totally different matter. I know what looks good to me – that’s about it. I think it’s great how Michele Banks of Washington, DC has created a juxtaposition of art and science in her work. She works with watercolors and uses this medium to represent various scientific processes, among other subjects. Read more »
Did This 1930s Motorcycle Inspire the New Tron: Legacy Bike?
Built in 1936, the bike pictured above with the new Tron bike is a dead ringer for the motorcycle of the future. In fact if I didn’t know any better I would say the Tron: Legacy bike is a refurbished version with a new “glow” to the design and an much more odd handlebar placement. According to Knucklebuster: I took these photos at the Rhinebeck Grand National Meet where the newly restored bike was unveiled. The bike belongs to Frank Westfall from Syracuse, NY. According to some info I found online, the bike was originally built by O. Ray Courtney in 1936 and is based on a 1930 K.J Henderson. Read more »
Does this Fable III avatar make me look fat?
If Fable III can’t get here soon enough for you, today Lionhead Studios launched a little something to tide you over. The Fable III Villager Maker allows you to create and customize your character, as you want him or her to appear in the game. The catch? You have to pre-order Fable III at Amazon, Best Buy, Gamestop, or Newegg in order to import your customized character into the game. Read more »
Make Your Own Glow Stick the Scientific Way
The weekend proved to be an enlightening one for me – both literally and figuratively. A friend attended local poi event and we hung out after. Seeing the photos and hearing the stories, I wish that I had gone! Not that I have any talent for that kind of thing, but watching those amazing performances would have made for a nice evening. In any case, the omnipresent glow lights caught my eye. The last time I had fun with these little glowing sticks was more than 10 years ago probably, but anyone who has had a late night experience playing with glow lights (with some spirits – the liquid kind Read more »
