Who is not familiar with NTT? Practically everyone has at least heard about the company, which is a household name all over the world when it comes to communications. For businesses, NTT has served as a role model and a reliable provider of a wide range of solutions. Earlier this month, NTT Communications – the international and long distance service arm of NTT – announced its acquisition of Secode AB. The acquired company is well known in northern Europe, providing managed-security and security-consulting services in the region. While individuals may not find much significance in this development, businesses will certainly see its import. Read more »

A Guide to Buying Anime Figures Online
When it comes to collecting anime figures, I am by no means the biggest collector around, but I do have a sizable collection. Every now and then I will get someone asking me how and where I buy my figures, so I thought I’d write a short guide to buying anime figures based on my experiences. If you are relatively new to the world of anime figures, these tips should help you on the right track. Buy From Reputable Shops Many first-time figure buyers end up buying bootlegs simply because they can’t tell whether a store is legitimate or not. Sometimes buyers may not realize they’ve bought a bootleg until Read more »
uDraw for Wii Brings Out the Artist in You
Another day, another Wii peripheral. But this family-friendly add-on doesn’t come from Nintendo, it’s from game developer THQ. (Which is interesting in and of itself, since THQ is best known for hardcore titles like UFC, Red Faction, and DarkSiders. But I digress.) The uDraw GameTablet is quite simply, a tablet for drawing on your screen. Pop your entire Wii Remote into the tablet’s side slot, and you’re off. A corded stylus allows you to work your artistic magic with proprietary uDraw games from THQ like uDraw Studio, Dood’s Big Adventure, and Pictionary (with more on the way). S0 just how well can you draw on this thing? The video after Read more »
Director Behind 'Piranha 3d' To Helm 'Space Pirate Cobra'
Alexandre Aja, the director behind the trippy Piranha 3-D movie wants to step away from his regular day job as a horror/thriller director to bring the anime character Space Pirate Cobra to life. If you’re unfamiliar with Space Pirate Cobra it’s a huge hit in Europe and features a space pirate who goes on various adventures, including one adventure where his mind is erased so he forgets he’s a space pirate. He’s also not your typical cartoon with cigars always dangling from his mouth and scantily clad woman always hanging from his arms. According to Deadline Aja believes Space Pirate Cobra would make a great “tentpole” action film, so much Read more »
The 3G Art Show: Goonies, Gremlins and Ghostbusters
If you are in Los Angeles between September the third and twenty-three you should check out “The 3G Art Show”. Gallery 1988 together with The Autumn Society is exhibiting a show with several art pieces inspired by popular movies from the 80′s, ‘Goonies, Gremlins and Ghostbusters’. Being a child from the 80′s I associate these movies with my childhood. As kid I loved watching Ghostbuster and Goonies on TV and being happy when I was finally allowed to watch the Gremlins. Not only do I remember all these movies, I watched them dubbed in Spanish, it doesn’t get more cult than that. Read more »
LEGO Toy Wars
We’ve seen the works of Pixar Animation Studios mixed with Star Wars before, but never in LEGO. Flickr user okayaraman has brilliantly fused his LEGO Toy Story minifig heads with his LEGO Star Wars minifig bodies together to create hilarious Toy Story-infused Star Wars characters. His efforts have resulted in mashup minifigure characters sure to make you laugh. My favorites: the “little green man” alien standing in for Yoda, Lots o’ Huggin’ Bear as Chewbacca, and Stinky Pete as Obi-Wan Kenobi. See close-ups of them all here. Read more »
A New Earp For A New Age
In my last post I mentioned how I’m not that into the old Wild West titles, yet now it seems that I am to be proved wrong at every turn. Of course as a child I loved both the strips and the old movies but at some point my love affair with the cowboy faded away as I found more and more of the ‘spandex’ worlds to explore. Looks like I am being drawn back to old territories, what with the Phantom Rider haunting the pages of Hawkeye and Mockingbird and now this, a revamp of the legendary Wyatt Earp. Earp Saints For Sinners is one of those higher quality Read more »
The Hardest Words for Hangman
I can’t remember the last time I played Hangman, but I know I there was a time when I just couldn’t stop. It’s such a simple game, but it never failed to bring out the competitive streak in me. That being said, I never thought I’d come across it again. As you probably know, in Hangman, it is usually a human being (you!) who guesses the word. A couple of years ago, however, Jon McLoone created a program wherein the human would be the one to come up with the word and the computer would be the guesser. How cool is that? (Note: Prior to this version, he created a Read more »
Rainy Day, Old School: Board Games for Geeks
Remember the time when boardgames were the pinnacle of fun? Maybe it was the days before Atari, and certainly the days before NES. Or maybe you’re one of those people who still has a family game night, in which case, boardgames? Pinnacle of fun? Sure, why not. For the most part, I enjoy kickin’ it nostalgic when it comes to my boardgame days, and I partook in more than my fair share of old school geeky gaming in my day. Oh, who am I kidding? I’m one of those people. I still enjoy geek boardgames today. Here’s a short list of games worth a second look for any fellow board Read more »
Will Sony Take on the 3DS… or the iPhone?
Sony’s first handheld gaming system is six years old. That’s one year older than tradition tells us is the average life of a game console. The industry has been waiting and watching for Sony to announce a true successor to the PSP, but so far, nada. So in place of actual news, there’s always rumors and speculation to fall back on. If the Move motion controller has taught us anything, it’s that Sony has slipped into imitation mode (Move is essentially Wii HD, even down to its near-identical-to-Wii remote controllers). So the question becomes: with the next-gen PSP, will Sony target iPhone or Nintendo’s upcoming 3DS? Read more »
