Eureka, Every Geeks Dream Town

Eureka, Every Geeks Dream Town

Eureka is a TV show currently playing on Syfy channel and on Sky TV channel in the UK as ‘A Town Called Eureka’. The show is currently in its fourth season and I can not believe this is the first I heard of it. While recently chatting with someone about TV shows that we are currently watching I was told about Eureka. I proceeded to watch all three seasons, meaning I am hooked. Not that the show is so great or epic, having an average of 3.2 million viewers there are more popular shows out there. But this show has its charm or rather the fictional town of Eureka. Inception Hallway Scene in LEGO

Inception Hallway Scene in LEGO

How awesome would it be if this was a screenshot for the next LEGO video game: LEGO Inception? But alas, ’tis not. Instead, this is an incredible MOC (that’s “My Own Creation” for you amateurs — meaning it’s an original build not based on any existing instructions) by MOCpages user Alex Eylar. Click through to see more images, including how he did it. Read more »

The Woz to Appear on The Big Bang Theory

The Woz to Appear on The Big Bang Theory

Fun, fun, fun! Yesterday, Steve Wozniak’s Facebook status was “What’s it like to film an episode of Big Bang Theory? I’ll let you know tonight, but not what the episode is about.” Now you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to get the message – he is making an appearance in what is arguably the most fun geek show on television today. This does not come as a surprise as The Woz is not exactly new to the TV scene. Who can forget his stint on Dancing with the Stars? While he received some of the harshest criticism as he tried to keep up with the rest of the Read more »

A Myst Movie Wouldn’t be What You Think

A Myst Movie Wouldn’t be What You Think

What would you say if I told you that a Myst movie is in development that could be the next Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter? You’d probably laugh in my face. A video game movie? Seriously? Besides, most people’s memories of Myst are of a quirky, colorful, lonely little island where puzzles were waiting to be solved. Aside from sounding vaguely like Lost, this setting is hardly exciting enough to justify a big-budget motion picture. That’s because the movie being developed is not the story of that tiny island. It’s something about ten thousand times bigger. Read more »

Review: Hydro Thunder Hurricane

Review: Hydro Thunder Hurricane

“HYDRO THUNDER!!” shouts the announcer when you first start up the second title in Xbox‘s “Summer of Arcade.” If those words sound familiar from the ghosts of arcades past — or even if they don’t — let them usher you into the fast-paced world of high-speed boat racing. As Xbox Arcade titles go, Hydro Thunder Hurricane looks and plays every bit as good as any off-the-shelf title, with gorgeous visuals, detailed maps, and tremendous replay value. Read more »

Dear Scott Pilgrim Fans, Where Did You Go This Weekend? Box Office Bomb

Dear Scott Pilgrim Fans, Where Did You Go This Weekend? Box Office Bomb

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World received a decent amount of good reviews, had a great advertising campaign and received a decent amount of buzz at Comic-Con, so what the hell happened? The move opened this past weekend to a rather dismal $10.5 million, that’s compared to the films $60 million budget. The movie, which stars Michael Cera as Scott Pilgrim is based around the idea that Pilgrim falls in love with a girl and must defeat her 7 evil ex’s  so they can date. Perhaps it was too difficult for comic book fans to put Michael Cera in the place of Pilgrim, even though I thought he fit the bill Read more »

This Is What Happens When Social Networks Are Made Into Movies

This Is What Happens When Social Networks Are Made Into Movies

News about Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s life being made into a movie spread earlier this year – with people having different reactions.  Some are quite excited about it, others merely chuckle at the thought.  What’s for sure is that it is getting a lot of attention. The movie is due to be released in October, and in July, we saw the full trailer of The Social Network. Here it is, in case you didn’t get to see it. I have to admit – in spite of the overly dramatic treatment, the trailer makes the movie seem interesting. This is not the main reason for this post, though. The release of Read more »

Fall 2010 Anime

Fall 2010 Anime

In a couple of weeks, a number of anime series will begin, and there are quite a few that seem like they would be worth taking a look into. Here are some of the more interesting titles that will be airing this fall: A Certain Magical Index 2 With only a few appearances in “A Certain Scientific Railgun” since the end of the first season, Touma and Index are finally back on screen full-time in the second season of “A Certain Magical Index”. Currently there don’t seem to be many details regarding the series other than that it’s a continuation from the first; however, the main characters from Railgun seem Read more »

Quite Possibly the Biggest Gaming News of the Year

Quite Possibly the Biggest Gaming News of the Year

Irrational Games, makers of the bestselling game BioShock, have unveiled their latest title, and it’s not what anyone expected. BioShock Infinite is technically set in the same universe as the original game (and its sequel), but that’s where the similarities end. Rapture’s dank underwater corridors have been replaced with bright, open spaces floating alongside clouds, in a thriving city filled with its own population. BioShock Infinite is set in the floating city of Columbia, which Irrational describes as “a floating symbol of American ideals at a time when the United States was emerging as a world power.” At the time the game begins, Columbia went missing ten years ago, and the Read more »
