The Avengers – A Classic "PreMake" [Video]

The Avengers – A Classic "PreMake" [Video]

Ivan Guerrero, the man behind various 1930s, ’40s and ’50s remakes including the very impressive and entertaining Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Ghostbusters offerings is at it again, this time “pre-making” the soon to be released The Avengers movie. If you’re unfamiliar with Ivan’s work, it’s simple, yet oddly complex, he basically finds various black and white movies from the past, some more known and some obscure and scours them for characters that look like or actually are the same as the characters in movies made after the time of those films, he then brilliantly edits those films with an old school voice over to give them the Read more »

Do you read Sutter Cane?

Do you read Sutter Cane?

It looks like Cthulhu is back in fashion at last. Yeah, I might be late in saying this, but as a die-hard fan since a youg age, this can only be a good thing. Well, the perils of mimetic infection (in the style of In The Mouth Of Madness) not withstanding, of course. Marvel is known for being behind the curve on many trends,. After all how many Twilight films and Vampire Slayers did there have to be for the current Curse Of The Mutants event? Still, this whole Thanos Imperative crossover rather shows that Cthulhu’s time in the spotlight is on its way. That’s a good thing, right? I Read more »

Feel Like Watching a Tween Comedy? Check Out BSG – NOT!

Feel Like Watching a Tween Comedy? Check Out BSG – NOT!

The next time you feel like watching a tween comedy – for whatever reason, I will not even try to understand – why don’t you try this TV series called Battlestar Galactica? Take a close look at that image and you’ll see that reputable “San Francisco Chronicle(?)” hails it as a “good –hearted tween comedy.” Seriously, WTF? Where I come from, pirated DVDs are commonplace, and I am surprised that I never came across one that looks just like this particular version. Not that I am promoting the creation and purchase of these illegal items, but they do have their uses. Just take one more look at the back of Read more »

Amazing MacPaint Art

Amazing MacPaint Art

Remember the endlessly epic MacPaint? All through my childhood and adolescent Macintosh years, I tried to master its sheer brilliance by creating hideous black and white abstract art with titles like “Square Dancing in a Blender”. Having zero actual illustration talent, I wasn’t able to manage much else, but I was ever in awe of anyone who could actually draw anything more than a stick figure (in a blender). For me, it was basically the only thing I could actually use on the Macintosh, which I first acquired hand-me-down when I was somewhere in the ballpark of 9 years old. For some years prior to that, my step-brother had been Read more »

Pencil 2.0

Pencil 2.0

The lead/graphite pencil has been with us since the 1500s (according to Wikipedia). That’s six hundred years of writing, shading, and taking the SATs. Anything that old is long overdue for an upgrade. Enter the Sharpie Liquid Pencil. It’s literally liquid graphite, like ink — only it’s pencil ink, and every bit as erasable as the original version. But there’s a twist. Instead of just making a liquid ink pencil, they’ve added a timestamp to it, of sorts. After three days, your pencil markings become permanent. If geeks had a writing instrument sponsor, it would surely be Sharpie. They just make the coolest pens and markers and now pencils around. Read more »

Luke and Leia Hook-Up [Disturbing/Funny Cartoon]

Luke and Leia Hook-Up [Disturbing/Funny Cartoon]

Obi-Won and Yoda really should have let Luke and Leia know that they were brother and sister sooner then they did. In this spoof of the Star Wars Trilogy, Leia falls for Luke, they have sex and eventually have have a hideous looking in-bred child. So much for the force protecting them against the powers of evil! Take a look at the cartoon below titled “Gree-Morr: The Inbred Jedi”, produced by a YouTube user who cleverly goes by the name “theinbredjedi” Read more »

8 Awesome Twilight Tattoos?

8 Awesome Twilight Tattoos?

If there is one book and movie franchise that provokes a lot of reactions it is the Twilight saga. You either love it or hate it. I knew how much it was hated by the haters, every time a new movie came out I would read the endless bashing of the movie. It doesn’t bother me, I read the books, saw the movies so safe to say I like it. That’s it, a healthy liking, no obsessions or anything. I can even say I read very fast through some parts in the books that where too mushy. I had no idea just how much others likes, or no, loves Twilight. Read more »

Some "Useful" Venn Diagrams

Some "Useful" Venn Diagrams

Who doesn’t love Venn diagrams? They’ve always had a way of making concepts easier to understand. I suppose this is true for most visual learners. It seems that countless other people have found a better use for Venn diagrams – to make your work day more bearable. Take that diagram up there (via Next Round). It’s been making the rounds for some time now and I am not certain that it’s accurate, but it sure will take your mind off whatever’s bothering you! At the very least, you’ll be assessing your social aptitude (or ineptitude), obsessive tendencies, and intelligence. And, if you take any of that stuff seriously, then you Read more »

Racing Arcade Game Meets Real Life, It Looks Amateurish But Fun [Video]

Racing Arcade Game Meets Real Life, It Looks Amateurish But Fun [Video]

I like when games are given a real world edge. Sometimes a games real world edge is given by placing real landmarks in games, sometimes it’s accomplished with fancy narratives that sound less like a game and more like real conversations, for Malte Nemlich, making games real means providing a real life basis for those games. Nemlich took a remote control car, attached a camera to the unit and then fashioned his own “3-D” track (as in a real track that actually exists in the real world). Nemlich then took his arcade game design one step further, creating an actual gaming cabinet for his controls with a full TV screen Read more »
