What’s a video game industry insider with mad carpentry skills to do in his down time? Craft pixelated tributes to his passion out of wood, of course.
Jeff Swenty, the game maker in question, has rendered favorite games from his childhood — mostly Nintendo classics — in patchwork wooden art that’s suitable for displaying on any wall, such as this clever Space Invaders wall. His other “8 Bit Wood” re-creations include Super Mario Bros., Mega Man, Pitfall, Excite Bike, Contra, Joust, Dig Dug, and more. (Personally, I can’t believe there’s no Pac-Man!)
You can even custom order a piece of 8 Bit Wood art of your very own. Swenty’s website doesn’t list pricing, but does say that he gives discounts to video game developers.
