The Sandman's Saga Continues

The Sandman's Saga Continues

It’s been an auspicious week for lovers of comics and lovers of good TV – and, ideally, the perfect marriage of the two. First, The Walking Dead was reportedly offered a second season almost 2 months before it even premiers (although the second season appears to be officially unconfirmed, most news outlets are, based on their sources, considering it a given). Now, rumor has it The Sandman is making its way to the small screen. The Sandman, for the uninitiated, was an epic comic penned by Neil Gaiman and published by DC/Vertigo between 1989-1996. It is one of the most highly acclaimed comics of all time, and the only comic Read more »

WiiMote Sex Toys, Oh How We've Corrupted The Mario Legacy [NSFW?]

WiiMote Sex Toys, Oh How We've Corrupted The Mario Legacy [NSFW?]

The age of innocence has come to an end at Nintendo, ladies and gentlemen I present to you the Mojowiijo, a device that not only has the worse name in the history of Wii motion based controllers, but which also provides the most nefarious use, sex toys. That’s right, with these true “beauties”, I use that word loosely, you can have two vibrating toys that can even attach to your PC, removing the Wii from the equation all together, but then the creators wouldn’t have bragging rights for having created the toy people have talked about, but didn’t have the balls to create. It’s Time to Go Back… to the Future!

It’s Time to Go Back… to the Future!

Alright! Somebody’s finally making a Back to the Future videogame! This is so overdue. That first movie is still one of my favorite movies of all time. Marty McFly and Doc Brown are coming to a platform near you thanks to a new partnership between Telltale Games and Universal Studios. Telltale is best known for its episodic, story-driven adventure games, such as the Sam & Max series. They’re bringing this same formula to a five-episode “season” for Back to the Future, this winter. The first concept art from the game is seen above. Read more »

Fancy a Virtual Date? Go to Atami.

Fancy a Virtual Date? Go to Atami.

Only in Japan do these things happen. Now that statement might be false, but one thing I am sure of – going on a date with a virtual partner is quite extraordinary! You may have heard of the game Love Plus+ – a dating video game where you can find the partner of dreams (albeit a virtual one). Created by Konami for the Nintendo DS, Love Plus+ quickly gained popularity in Japan and hit an all time high when a college guy actually married his virtual partner. Sad, I know, but it did push the game into the limelight. So, a year later, we haven’t been hearing much of the Read more »

Unreal Engine Running on Apple Devices

Unreal Engine Running on Apple Devices

At today’s Apple keynote event, Epic Games showed up to tease a new game they’re working on called Project Sword. Showing off some of the 3D gameplay the game will make possible, using Epic’s Unreal Engine (the same game engine used for Gears of War, Mass Effect, and more), they’ve made a free app available to download from iTunes. It’s called “Epic Citadel,” and it’s basically a FPS-style 3D castle/village environment for you to wander around in and take a look at what the Unreal engine can do on iPod, iPhone, or iPad. I just downloaded the iPad version and have to say, I’m impressed. The controls are simple and Read more »

Apple Launches Social Network, Destroys Cable TV

Apple Launches Social Network, Destroys Cable TV

There were some jaws that had to be picked up off the floor this morning when Apple held its latest media event. Emceed as ever by Steve Jobs, the event was primarily about Apple updating its entire line of iPods, but it was a handful of other announcements that stole the show. Here’s a quick rundown of everything you need to know. Read more »

Star Wars Tai Chi Starring Darth Vader [Video]

Star Wars Tai Chi Starring Darth Vader [Video]

Sure Darth Vader and his Stormtroopers may have the dark side to aid them in their battles, but there’s nothing like staying nice and limber as well, that’s where a daily routine of Tai Chi comes into play. Notice the lazy Stormtroopers in the background who are doing little more than standing around. Watch as Darth Vader does his Lift Knee Thrust Upward pose and his Turn Body, Thrust Downward Pose among 40 other moves in the style of Star Wars. Here’s the video: Read more »

Atlas – Time for a relaunch

Atlas – Time for a relaunch

With the fashion of relaunch that has swamped the market recently, such as Buck Rogers, T.H.U.N.D.E.R. Agents, the Red Circle characters, the Green Hornet and even a small blast from the Milestone imprint; is there really room for another one? Absolutely yes, especially if it receives the same tender loving care that the aforementioned titles have done. Now, while I say Atlas, I do not mean the Atlas comics from that evolved into Marvel, of which there has been more than a few reprints recently. No, I mean the cast of characters that never really got a chance to shine, those of Atlas Seaboard comics. For an imprint that only Read more »

Dragon*Con 2010: Who's Going?

Dragon*Con 2010: Who's Going?

Mark your calendars! From September 3 to 6, the annual Dragon*Con is going to be held in Georgia.  My love for dragons is not a secret, though this convention is not really just about those magnificent creatures.  What started out as a project of a local science fiction group and  gaming group (Dragon Alliance of Gamers and Role-Players) has now become one of the largest multigenre conventions in North America.  The name Dragon comes from the founder’s (Ed Kramer) Dragon Computer. This year marks the 24th annual Dragon*Con – it was founded in 1987 – and it will be held in four Atlanta hotels: Hyatt Regency Atlanta, Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Read more »
