Aliens Power Loader
In just two weeks, this guy used wood, polystyrene foam, PVC pipe, and a racing harness to build his own Power Loader exo-suit, as seen in James Cameron‘s Aliens. (Remember how Ripley used a big yellow metal suit to dispatch the Alien Queen at the climax of the film? It’s that thing.) Being the extremely magnanimous guy that he is, “The Movie Geek” has posted instructions online so that you can build a Power Loader of your very own. From what I can tell, it looks like an inexpensive, surprisingly simple project. And you’ve got plenty of time to finish it before Halloween. The video above shows off his finished Read more »
The Harry Potter Franchise
Can’t wait to see the seventh Harry Potter movie? Well, there’s nothing you can do about it – you’ll have to wait till November to see the first part and then July 2011 to see the second part. In the meantime, I suggest that you take a look at the interactive infographic that the Splashpress team has come up with. This infographic will show you the numbers surrounding the books and the movies, the evolution of the characters, and more. Trust me, if you are a true Harry Potter fan, you will drool over this baby. And, even if you’re not (like me), you’ll still have some fun! Read more »
This Is The Transformers Movie We Wanted. Take That Revenge Of The Fallen
The music video below is called Kutty Pisassu and was created in 2010 with Bumblebee from Transformers. I’m not really sure what country it comes from or why in the world there is a dinosaur looking creature that’s apparently friends with the child, but how can you not love a Transformers inspired flick with Bumblebee inspired bongos. The films music director is Deva, not to be confused with Devo, who’s own work “Whip It” music video isn’t even close to as weird as this piece of musical mess. Here’s the video: Read more »
8 Bit Wood
What’s a video game industry insider with mad carpentry skills to do in his down time? Craft pixelated tributes to his passion out of wood, of course. Jeff Swenty, the game maker in question, has rendered favorite games from his childhood — mostly Nintendo classics — in patchwork wooden art that’s suitable for displaying on any wall, such as this clever Space Invaders wall. His other “8 Bit Wood” re-creations include Super Mario Bros., Mega Man, Pitfall, Excite Bike, Contra, Joust, Dig Dug, and more. (Personally, I can’t believe there’s no Pac-Man!) You can even custom order a piece of 8 Bit Wood art of your very own. Swenty’s website Read more »
The Best iPad Case Ever
One of my greatest childhood frustrations was the Etch a Sketch. No matter how hard I tried, I never was able to create a cool design or picture with the thing, and it drove me nuts. Eventually, I hucked it across the room in frustration and stormed off. Inevitably, a week or so later I’d go and pick it up and try again. Wash, rinse, repeat. But this is legitimately cool. It’s an official Etch A Sketch iPad Case, and better yet, it’s cheap. $39, which is cheaper than most iPad cases out there today, and it also doubles as a hiding box for your iPad, because really, who’s going to jack Read more »
WildStorm downgraded to a WildBreeze?
Newsarama today has revealed the announcement that WildStorm (in its current incarnation) is to cease to be, as DC announvced to the world on Tuesday. Come the end of December, WildStorm is to have published it’s final title, even though we are assured the characters will survive. Now, even Newsarama states that DC has had successes with integrating the Milestone and Red Circle characters into the central universe, however do we really think that this stable of characters could be absorbed easily? Boldly Go Where Lot's Of Pizza Has Gone Before, Get In My Tummy
We don’t post a lot of “Gadgets” on Forevergeek, most of the time their “techie” but not quite “geeky” but in the case of the Star Trek Starship Enterprise Pizza Cutter it’s just a whole new level of eatery awesomeness. Available at ThinkGeek for the semi-low price of just $25, this piece of art, yeah I said art, will have all our Trekker friends pissed off that your pizza tastes better than theirs (ForeverGeek claim: we can not guarantee that your pizza will taste better). Terry Pratchett's Meteorite Sword Beats Them All
I suppose that being the superstar fantasy author that he is, Terry Pratchett is entitled to having awesome stuff come his way. After all, anyone who has the imagination to put together things such as Discworld deserves toys that are way out of the ordinary, right? That one-of-a-kind bling up there is definitely no ordinary sword. It’s Sir Terry Pratchett’s custom-made meteorite sword. Read more »
Pokémon Apokélypse: I Would Pay To Watch This Movie In Theaters
Fire, electricity, ground shaking hits, if you think about it Pokémon has always been a dark, mystical cock-fight placed inside child friendly wrapping, but that all changed last week when a fan trailer was released with a modern and much more adult spin on the classic cartoon. While that trailer was decent, the shaky hand held cinematography was annoying and nearly unwatchable. Thankfully we now have the real cinematography for the fan-made trailer titled Pokémon: Apokélypse and to say the least, I’m 100% blown away, I would go see this movie today if it actually existed. From the cock-fight type underground fighting to the cool re-imagining of Pichahu and the Read more »
