The Manslater: For Effective Communication

The Manslater: For Effective Communication

We’ve all heard about “men are from Mars, and women are from Venus.” No matter how smart a guy or girl is, no matter how many different languages one can speak (yes, Klingon does count), it seems that at the end of the day, men and women just have different ways of communicating. How they manage to get together and spend their lives together remains a mystery even to the wisest of sages. However, technology just might have the answer to this age old problem. Enter the Manslater. (Although I really think that should be spelled Manslator.) This nifty gadget promises to solve all communication problems between men and women Read more »

Artifacts Of Interest

Artifacts Of Interest

The Top Cow universe is one that I have only ever dipped in to on occasion. Every story I have read I have enjoyed, but I have always been aware that I have been missing the bigger picture, and have mainly stuck to the inter-company crossovers. (Remember Devil’s Reign? I loved that.) Artifacts however changes all this. Immediately we are presented with a bigger picture, thirteen artifacts that once collected together have the ability to usher in the apocalypse and in the meantime have the quiet duty of ‘guiding the fate of the universe’. Captain America Game Set in Same World as Movie

Captain America Game Set in Same World as Movie

Sega is working on a Captain America video game to coincide with next year’s big-screen movie, but Sega says it’s not an exact “game of the movie,” though it is set within the world of the movie. Which means these great-looking screenshots and conceptual artwork are indicative of the look and feel that the movie will have. Of particular interest to the faithful should be the renderings of Arnim Zola and the war machine of Hydra. Captain America: Super Soldier is described as a third-person platformer that uses “a highly athletic combat system” where Cap’s iconic shield will be the key to his attack, defense, puzzle-solving, and wall-scaling maneuvers. Ladies of Sci-Fi Burlesque: Every Geek Guy’s Fantasy

Ladies of Sci-Fi Burlesque: Every Geek Guy’s Fantasy

Whether you guys will admit or not , you probably have had a fantasy or two about some of the girls you see in Sci-Fi movies/shows.  I don’t see why you wouldn’t want to admit it, though.  After all, if you were to have fantasies about girls, why not the ones from awesome movies? I saw this slideshow over at the LA Weekly about a show called Ladies of Sci-Fi Burlesque held at Bordello.  (Is it just me or do some people find it more acceptable to use “burlesque” than “strip tease”?)  In any case, the photos taken by Erin Broadley are nothing short of awesome.  Check them out for Read more »

Zack Snyder To Direct New Superman Movie, Chris Nolan Also Helping Out

Zack Snyder To Direct New Superman Movie, Chris Nolan Also Helping Out

Zack Snyder likes to make movies that are visually unique (300) and interesting to watch with new fresh ideas (Watchmen), so to say I was ecstatic to learn that he would be directing the upcoming Superman movie is an understatement. However, the news gets even better, Chris Nolan Batman Begins and The Dark Knight is “supervising” the production which should help Snyder add some nice dark elements compared to the film, compared to the almost “cheery” or “whimsical” last attempt Superman Returns. But that wasn’t enough for studios heads, they also decided to throw in David Goyer, if you’re unfamiliar with his scripted work, just check out Batman Begins then Read more »

How Storytelling Works in ‘Epic Mickey’

How Storytelling Works in ‘Epic Mickey’

The more I see of Epic Mickey, the more excited I become. And I’m not a big Mickey Mouse fan. The game just looks like an amazingly polished experience. Is this the game that finally justifies the Wii to non-Nintendo fanboys? We’ll find out November 30th. In the meantime, here’s a brand new trailer that shows off some of the story, and how it’s incorporated into the gameplay. Follow @FGgamer on Twitter for the latest gaming news. Read more »

What’s Google TV, and Why Should You Care

What’s Google TV, and Why Should You Care

You may have heard of Google TV, but if you’re like me, you probably have no idea what it is. So I did some digging, and here’s what I’ve learned. Google TV is a new platform (aka, operating system) that seamlessly combines television with the Internet. The idea is to streamline content distribution, so that things like web video can sit side-by-side with your favorite television programs or that Facebook game you love to waste hours upon hours on. Google is even implementing apps as part of the platform — which is probably the main aspect that’s got everyone so excited — so that just like on your smartphone, you Read more »

The iPad, I Know It’s Magic But I Just Don’t Get It

The iPad, I Know It’s Magic But I Just Don’t Get It

Some months ago some guru decided it was time to bombard the world with a new piece of hardware and make our bank account a little lighter. Much lighter. We had to do it, especially Mactards fanboys that we be… but I didn’t. I was tempted and almost raving about the new device and without having held it in my hands I wrote a glorified review 7 Reasons Why Bloggers Should Buy An iPad. But I didn’t. Now times have changed and I’m ready to splurge the cash. Not because I want another dust catcher on my coffee table or a portable device which does not fit in any pair Read more »

Sony Delays ‘DC Universe Online’

Sony Delays ‘DC Universe Online’

By all indications, DC Universe Online looks downright awesome. I’ve always been more of a Marvel man myself, but as infrequently as good comic book games are made, I’m hopeful that maybe they’ll get this one right. Sony Online Entertainment has a solid track record, so the odds are good for DC Comics. You’ll have to judge for yourself if this news is good or bad: SOE just announced that DC Universe Online is being delayed from its planned November 2nd release date to Q1 2011. DCUO is set to be the first-of-its-kind MMO on the PlayStation 3, and the first-ever MMO set in the DC Universe. The game is moving Read more »

Wonder Woman To Get TV Show Reboot

Wonder Woman To Get TV Show Reboot

How do you take a classic TV and destroy it? There’s a good chance DC Comic is about to let us know, announcing plans to reboot the Wonder Woman franchise by handing it over to David E. Kelley, the guy behind “Alley McBeal” , “Boston Legal” and “The Practice.” Because if anything shouts Wonder Woman, it’s definitely a guy who writes legal and legal comedy based programs. The slightly good news that comes from this is that the program isn’t actually in development, rather Kelley is working to hash out plans for what could become a series. Hopefully if the new treatments for the series total suck DC Comic may Read more »
