Big Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes at Xbox.com

Big Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes at Xbox.com

Xbox.com has just undergone a major upgrade and overhaul, and Xbox Live users will find lots of enhancements to their overall experience. The facelift’s biggest new feature is the new Avatar editor where you can now create and edit your Xbox Live Avatar right from your browser. This is something Xbox users have longed for, for ages, and it’s a fully-interactive Silverlight application that lets you purchase or preview new items, including in-game reward items. Other new enhancements include: New layout for messaging, where you can view messages, friends, and game requests more easily Your Account center now has basically all of the same functions as what you can access Read more »

World Statistics Day 20.10.2010: Just Another Holiday?

World Statistics Day 20.10.2010: Just Another Holiday?

Hey, it’s time for another holiday!  I woke up this morning to my Facebook feed cluttered with people greeting each other “Happy World Statistics Day!”  To be honest with you, I would rather NOT celebrate this holiday.  I will never claim to be good at math (friends will attest to that) but I can hold my own (my university grades will at least back me up).  When it comes to statistics, however, I was – and am – a total failure.  Still, just because I don’t like a subject, it doesn’t mean we can’t feature it here on ForeverGeek, right?  After all, I am sure that there are many stat Read more »

Write And Squire

Write And Squire

I’m not sure about Knight & Squire. After reading the review from Newsarama, and how the writer Paul Cornell is ‘clearly reveling in the Britishness of it all’, my enthusiasm waned slightly. I had been really looking forward to this series but as for ‘reveling’, well, as a British guy I rather found the opening panels over-powering to say the least. Don’t get me wrong, Paul Cornell‘s writing is a treat, and this is no doubt a feast for anglophiles abroad, especially enhanced by the appearance of Ernie, The Fastest Milkman In The West. When Marvel Met TRON

When Marvel Met TRON

What if the Marvel Universe was actually inside the computerized world of Tron? Marvel Comics has just released a set of 10 variant covers that show artists’ renderings of what some of Marvel’s top-tier heroes would look like inside Tron. I’ve never been a huge fan of variant covers, but these covers — by Marvel artists Mark Brooks and Brandon Peterson — are all kinds of cool. Awesome enough to make me wish Marvel would do a Tron-ized version of their universe. (Hey, they’ve already done Zombies, Apes, and Noir versions, so why not?) No doubt this is further evidence of Marvel’s ongoing assimilation into the Disney empire. Read more »

Turtle Bones Discovered In Antarctica May Prove Continent Was Once A Rainforest

Turtle Bones Discovered In Antarctica May Prove Continent Was Once A Rainforest

Antarctica may currently have some of the harshest weather conditions on Earth, but a recent discover of turtle bones in the area has some scientists predicting that the area was once a lush rain forest full of a large variety of animal life. The discovery is hard to put into perspective when we realize that only 8 inches of rainfall now occurs yearly in the area which is famous for ice and penguins, not trees and cold blooded creatures. The recently discovered turtle bones date back nearly 45 million years and were discovered at Seymour Island. Only several bones from one or two turtles have been discovered, however they are Read more »

The Ritual of the Pull List

The Ritual of the Pull List

My boyfriend and I recently took our relationship to the next level. We established a pull list together at our local comic book shop. Let me tell you, it was a joyous occasion. This came after significant searching for “our shop” – that one magical place with all the right elements to draw us in and keep us there. We wanted a place we could take our hard-earned nickles and dimes every Wednesday, eagerly, the way other couples look forward to, oh, I don’t know…a bottle of Chianti over Dancing with the Stars? (I’m a geek. What the hell do I know about “normal” relationships?) We wanted our sanctuary. And Read more »

7 Banksy Tattoos

7 Banksy Tattoos

Thanks to Franky I’ve become familiar with the artist Banksy. After reading all posts here and seeing videos inspired by his art work I have read about him on several other websites. From what I have read of him he seems a bit like Bill Watterson, the creator of Calvin and Hobbes. Both of them don’t seek publicity nor strive to make big bucks by marketing their products. This in a way speaks to me, as they are artist who care more for their work than their cash flow. I have one tattoo for somewhat over a year and a half and I took a long time to decide on Read more »

Get Your Hands On the UK Geek Calendar

Get Your Hands On the UK Geek Calendar

I have no idea who these people are, but the mere idea of a Geek Calendar is enough to get me clicking and reading. On Thursday, October 21, the Geek Calendar will be launched, marking a momentous occasion in geekdom. So what’s it all about? Well, do not expect Star Wars, Star Trek, gadgets, comic books, or anything like that. This calendar may not have your favorite symbols of geekiness, but it does feature the “heroes of UK geekdom.” Here’s how the people behind this project describe it: “Geek Calendar showcases the UK’s geek heroes in ways you will have never seen before. This is not a ‘pin-up’ calendar in Read more »

‘Assassin’, ‘Persia’ Director Moves to THQ

‘Assassin’, ‘Persia’ Director Moves to THQ

Just days after word leaked that Guillermo del Toro is working with THQ on a number of new game IPs comes this shocker: Patrice Désilets, the man behind the Prince of Persia and Assassin’s Creed games has signed on with THQ as well. Désilets is best known for his super-successful work with Ubisoft Montreal on those two bestselling game franchises. At THQ, he’s similarly expected to create and develop an entirely new game franchise, but just what that franchise will be is entirely unknown. Désilets will work with a new, dedicated studio of his own, based in Montreal, but working under the THQ banner. He will begin his work for Read more »

Bill Murray Shows Up At Scream Awards In Ghostbusters Outfit. What A Tease!

Bill Murray Shows Up At Scream Awards In Ghostbusters Outfit. What A Tease!

The rumors have been flying lately, it appears Ghostbusters 3 is on the way, but there’s still no official confirmation that the entire cast will return, so for now we have this…Bill Murray showing up at the Scream awards to accept the “Best Horror Movie” award for Zombieland while wearing a Ghostbusters uniform. Unfortunately no mention was made in regards to why Murray was wearing the outfit and he looked rather old, which might come off a bit funny on film, unless of course the characters age is taken into consideration. We’ve also learned that Dan Aykroyd isn’t writing the script as previously rumors, which really has nothing to do Read more »
