Microsoft made it real this morning: 17 is the magic number. That’s how many titles will be available for Kinect when it launches in a few weeks, on November 4th. Well, okay, so not all 17 will be available on the 4th — only twelve of them will be — but the rest are considered part of Kinect’s “launch portfolio,” aka games available during Kinect’s initial launch window. It’s interesting to note that there are no less than 4 exercising games, and 2 dancing games. Here’s a full breakdown. Kinect Adventures: comes with the Kinect device. Available November 4th. Kinectimals: $49.99 standard edition, $59.99 limited collector’s edition (comes with a Read more »

Spider-Man Hits the ‘Big Time’
Marvel has just released a brand new trailer for the next big story arc of Amazing Spider-Man, which presents the next major change in status quo for Peter Parker. It seems Peter has gotten himself a new girlfriend (who’s name is not Mary Jane) and a nifty new job working for Horizon Labs. And as the trailer shows, he’s also going to be trying out some new costumes, and enjoying some free time thanks to a fellow wall-crawler helping him out. Personally, I lost interest in Amazing when “One More Day” retconned pretty much everything from J. Michael Straczynski’s run on the title. But this is a very nifty trailer. Read more »
There’s A Periodic Table for That! 15 Geeky Periodic Tables
There’s a periodic table for that!(TM) Anyone who has read ForeverGeek for a while knows that we are big fans of periodic tables. Don’t believe me? We even have a periodic table tag. Although not every author in the history of FG totally element focused was and would gladly leave out the creation of a new element from a geek-gasmic list, generally we do love our elements and periodic tables. So time for a roundup of periodic tables. While there are lots of periodic tables out there, we did stick to tables which at least do look like a genuine periodic table and not one of the many knock offs Read more »
What Facebook Would Have Looked Like in 1984
1984. I was but a toddler then, and I know for sure that we didn’t have a computer at that time. Maybe some of you were not even born yet! Let’s just pretend for a minute that we were all adults (at least age-wise) back in 1984. Let’s pretend that Facebook already existed. What would have it looked like given the available technology back then? That’s what graphic designer Robert Penney did, and he came up with the 1984 version of THE social network of today. Check out the image below. Read more »
All Sound The Same
Have you ever watched an anime and thought to yourself “hey, why does this character sound exactly like *insert name here* from another anime”? Well, chances are that if they look and act the same, they probably have the same voice actor (a.k.a. seiyuu) playing the part. Take, for example, Rie Kugimiya, one of the more popular voice actors. Regular anime watchers may recognize her name since she played the roles of Shana from Shakugan no Shana, Louise from Zero no Tsukaima, Nagi from Hayate the Combat Butler, and Taiga from Toradora. If you take a look at these four characters, they’re basically carbon copies of each other: short, flat-chested, Read more »
Hulk And Cloak And Dagger TV Shows Being Mulled Over By ABC
A few weeks ago I reported that Wonder Woman was rumored for a return to TV with a new look and feel, now I’m excited to learn that ABC is taking a serious look at a new Hulk Series and ABC Family is looking at a first launch for a live action version of Cloak and Dagger. The Hulk was last seen on CBS from 1978-1982 and starred Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno. That 70′s and 80′s version of the show drew decent crowds and formed a cult following from comic fans. The Weirdest Lamp Ever
After my post a few weeks ago on empty printer cartridges that a clever artist used as art, I got to wondering about what other things used ink cartridges might be made into. A quick search on Etsy turned up these bizarre lamps, made by seller Lowell & Louise, which I find oddly mesmerizing. The popular term for recycling old materials into something entirely new like this is “repurposing.” These ink cartridge lamps have been completely disassembled and reassembled with suitable bulbs inside, custom-cut aluminum rods to hold the multi-cartridge variety together, and a basic two-pronged power plug. Available as Chandeliers, Hanging Lamps, or basic Lamps, their prices range from Read more »
Alternative Therapy Flowchart
Feeling stressed? Have an aversion to doctors? (Whether it’s healthy or not, I totally get it.) Lucky you – there is a plethora of alternative therapies/treatments that you can take a look into. I don’t know about you, but I have tried a couple of alternative therapies, and boy, they can feel good! I came across a funny flowchart at Science, Reason and Critical Thinking – I think some of you will find some use out of it. Whether or not you wish to take this seriously, it is up to you, but I simply couldn’t pass up on the chance to share this flowchart. Who does not like flowcharts, Read more »
A Fitting End
In the wake of New York Comicon there is so much that is available to write about, such as the new IDW crossover Infestation (whoda thunk that Star Trek and the Ghost Busters could work together huh?), but I have to take a moment to stand back in awe about Marvel’s excellent One Month To Live. Despite my earlier fears, the series retained its original high quality, there was no easy get out for Dennis the central character, and yet somehow this was a triumphant story. Read more »
Freeze Yourself in Carbonite
Talented artist Paul Pape makes his living crafting three-dimensional sculptures on a custom-order basis. Most of his sculptures are for video game customers, and as you can see here, he’s done a lot of Miis and Xbox Live avatars, as well as some Sackboys and WoW creatures. But his latest item is so cool, it transcends all geek boundaries and appeals to every geek on the most basic level. And as we all know, that level is Star Wars. Pape is making a limited run of 200 “Custom Carbonites” available before Christmas, and it just might be the ultimate gift for the geek who has everything. A Custom Carbonite is you Read more »
