The original Tron movie has been sitting idle in my hard drive for the longest time, and I really do have to watch it before the new movie comes out. While I wait for the chance to sit down and focus on that movie, I shall content myself with drooling at these new suits from Universal Designs. With a tagline “Welcome to a World Where Leather Rules,” you really can’t go wrong, can you? They are now selling leather motorcycle suits – for both men and women – that I think are pretty cool. The next time you have a costume party (Halloween’s coming up!), you just might win costume Read more »

Steampunk Iron Man
Who won the Marvel Costume Contest at New York Comic-Con? Steampunk Iron Man, that’s who. Sadly, I have no information on who the buidler/wearer is, but his/her work is incredible, no? The details are just ridiculous. I mean, just look at all those rivets! And photographer Judy Stephens gave it a tremendous showcase with her terrific use of lighting and composition. What do you think? There are more pictures here, but I’ve posted the best of them for you below. Read more »
Chocolate Covered Bacon
Finally a real bacon delicacy that is fresh and made out of real products and flavor. The chocolate covered bacon is made from hickory smoked bacon that is cooked in the oven until golden and crispy. My favorite way of making bacon by the way. Then the bacon is smothered in chocolate, two versions actually, dark chocolate and regular chocolate. Considering this is a very fatty delicacy I would go all the way and get the dark chocolate instead of the regular chocolate. Read more »
New ‘Batman: Arkham City’ Pics Will Get You All Tingly
Can’t wait for Batman: Arkham Asylum sequel Arkham City? Neither can we! Which is why I jumped for joy when Warner Bros. Interactive sent over these sweet new images today that show how the game’s coming along. Not due until the excruciatingly far away Fall 2011, Batman: Arkham City finds Arkham Asylum’s inmates in a brand new maximum security home for the criminally insane that’s an entire city suburb of Gotham that’s been walled in. The game is expected to deliver a whole slew of new-but-familiar villains from Batman’s enormous rogues gallery, along with lots of new gameplay features and another great story. Today’s images include some creeptastically gorgeous new Read more »
250,000 LEGO Bricks = Biggest Fan Build Ever
Two hundred and fifty thousand bricks. Two hundred and fifty thousand. That’s how many LEGO pieces were used to create this behemoth that might just be the largest LEGO MOC (“my own creation” aka, fan-made model) ever built. The cost alone is mind-boggling to think about, but also consider that it took nine months to build. (I can’t imagine building something like this in just nine months — I think that’s pretty impressive in and of itself.) You’re looking at a 1/40 scale recreation of the WWII aircraft carrier the USS Intrepid the scale of a standard LEGO Minifigure. Insane levels of detail have been perfectly placed by the builder, Ed Read more »
Microcosmos: Seeing the Beauty in Little Things
So many things surround us, that it is no surprise that we tend to overlook the tiny things – and I say this both literally and figuratively. Sometimes, it takes outside influence to make us stop and enjoy these little wonders. Microcosmos – the new edition – by Brandon Broll, is one of those outside influences that have made me stop and marvel today. This illustrated book is filled to the brim with photographs of (literally) tiny things that we might be taking for granted. The book features the art of the colored scanning electron micrograph (SEM), wherein the original subjects have been magnified. The number of magnification? Some go Read more »
2010 Anime Saimoe Tournament
Every year the people over at 2ch, a Japanese discussion board, hold a contest called the Anime Saimoe Tournament. The purpose of this tournament is to choose the most moe (pronounced mo-eh) female anime character of the past year. What is “moe” you ask? The term is commonly used in describing cute young girls, sort of like a replacement for “kawaii”, but it could be used to refer to any character that anyone has an interest in. So simply put, Saimoe is a contest to find the most popular anime girl in Japan. Read more »
Banksy Storyboard for The Simpsons Intro
There is no doubt about that if you take two popular topics, Banksy and The Simpsons, there’s at least one we do not write enough about here at ForeverGeek. The other we probably write too often about because who does not write about The Simpson anyway? It is a public secret that I am a big fan of Banksy’s street art and when I saw the title of a tweet combining both Banksy and The Simpsons, I don’t know anymore whether I was amused, excited or just thinking WTF. For the first time ever the crew around Matt Groenig have allowed a ‘third party’ artist to write the storyboard for Read more »
What Do Jedi’s And Sith Do When They Get Out Of The Shower?
I’m all for Star Wars and other Sci-Fi novelty items, in fact I spend a good portion of my time on ForeverGeek writing about them, but what I really love are novelty items that are useful in everyday life, like the Star Trek Enterprise Pizza Cutter I wrote about last week. Needless to say I was happy to discover new Jedi and Sith bathrobes being offered at the official Star Wars store. The robs are $70 each and they are one-size-fits-all which means my 5’1″ wife probably wouldn’t be too comfortable in them, but they’ll be right for average size buyers. Read more »
I’ll Take 2 of Whatever Will Wright is Smoking
Gamers know Will Wright as the amazingly creative mind behind “sandbox” games like SimCity, The Sims, and most recently, Spore. But last year he left behind Maxis, the studio he created to produce those games, and formed Stupid Fun Club, a startup aimed at crafting entertainment projects that go beyond gaming. The first product of his efforts is Bar Karma, a television series (yep, you read that right) that’s set to air on CurrentTV in early 2011. Nothing is known about the show’s premise, but its production style is the big news, because Wright has designed it to be fully interactive — in every way imaginable. Bar Karma will be Read more »
