Harry Potter Shouldn’t Hang Out With Drunk Coke Heads [Funny Video]

Harry Potter Shouldn’t Hang Out With Drunk Coke Heads [Funny Video]

So what happens when you take Harry Potter and you get rid of fighting He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named? You end up with a bunch of belligerent teenagers who just want to drink beer and snort coke while trying to get into Hermione’s pants. Okay so the high pitched voices in the spoof film are a bit annoying, but the chroma keying of actors into certain parts of the actual Harry Potter movies, plus the great use of footage from the films to match what their dialogue is saying is pretty cool. Here’s the video: Read more »

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean

Now that Disney and LEGO have forged an alliance, a whole treasure trove of properties could potentially get the LEGO video game treatment, a la LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Batman. First up: LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, which will accompany a new collection of branded Pirates LEGO brick sets taken from the film series. Just announced today in a press release from Disney Interactive Studios, TT Games — the company that makes all of the LEGO video games (except for LEGO Universe) — will be producing the game for a release alongside the next Pirates movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, next May. Wheel of Time Action Figures – Drool Time!

Wheel of Time Action Figures – Drool Time!

Earlier this month, fantasy fans lined up for the release of Towers of Midnight, which is the 13th book in the Wheel of Time Series. Definitely one of the best fantasy series of all of time, the Wheel of Time (or WoT as we lovingly call it) is the masterpiece of Robert Jordan. This awesome writer passed away without having finished the books, but fans were saved from massive disappointment – despair even – by the able hands/mind of Brandon Sanderson. Read more »

Batman Had To Trade In The Batmobile After His First Child [Pic]

Batman Had To Trade In The Batmobile After His First Child [Pic]

Wow, the Batmobile is cool to drive around in, but what about when that time comes for Bruce Campbell to settle down and have kids, his wife will no doubt make him trade in his superfast wheels for a more family friends option and now he can, thanks to the Batvan. Created by a Batman superfan in Japan the custom van is decked out with some cool graphics, especially the designers depiction of Batman, but honestly the purple paint and crazy looking wings extending from the vehicle would probably make Batman feel just like every other dad that doesn’t want to step behind the steering wheel of a minivan? What is BioWare’s New Mystery Game?

What is BioWare’s New Mystery Game?

BioWare is being quite the tease today. After releasing the above image, and announcing that they’ll reveal the identity of their next big game during Spike’s Video Game Awards on December 11th, BioWare has started sending out QR codes for smartphones by Twitter. From reports all around the web, the consensus seems to be that the clues are pointing sharply at… (Wait for it…) Mass Effect 3. Yeah, yeah. We already knew Mass Effect 3 would be coming sooner or later, so this isn’t anything as earth-shattering as an entirely new IP. But ME3 constitutes the grand finale of BioWare’s epic scifi RPG, so they can be forgiven for a Read more »

Get Ready for a Geeky Thanksgiving

Get Ready for a Geeky Thanksgiving

Turkey Day is just around the corner, and while not everyone celebrates this holiday, I am sure there are quite a handful of you who cannot wait for Thanksgiving. I totally get you – who can resist a nice turkey dinner with melt-in-your-mouth mashed potatoes? If you are tasked with preparing the food for this year’s Thanksgiving get-together, I think that you’ll enjoy some pointers from the Mr. Cooking for Geeks himself, Jeff Porter. (See my post on his book, Cooking for Geeks.) Read more »

Green Lantern Trailer (+ Screengrabs)

Green Lantern Trailer (+ Screengrabs)

At last, the first Green Lantern trailer is right here. Plus, I’ve grabbed 55 high-res screenshots from it. Gander in awe at the effects, the heroics, and the glipses of Oa. Green Lantern is being called “the Star Wars of the DC Comics universe,” and the trailer makes it easy to see why. I know a lot of fans aren’t entirely sold on the slightly creepy/organic look of Ryan Reynolds’ Green Lantern costume (neither am I), but Reynolds does a great job of filling Hal Jordan’s shoes believably. Director Martin Campbell is untested when it comes to superheroes and science fiction, but he’s got plenty of street cred when it comes Read more »

Joys Of The Back-Issue Bins

Joys Of The Back-Issue Bins

As much as we like to review the newest, coolest, hippest release, it is sometimes nice to remember that there are treasures to be found in the bins, some from our childhoods or even before we were that glimmer in somebody’s eye. Comics have a rich history, there’s a reason why this is a cool media. Neither can we ignore the cheesy or cutesy, from Disney to DC’s Sugar and Spice, legacies that continue through to today. Did you know the original funny animal character Peter Porkchops (who had quite the impressive run of issues for the time, heck, even by today’s standards) became Pig-Iron of the Amazing Zoo Crew? How Do Kinect’s Sales Numbers Compare?

Kinect Lifestyle

So there’s a press release making the rounds today about how Microsoft’s new Xbox motion controller Kinect has sold one million units in its first 10 days. This is big news for Xbox because Microsoft has made big noise about wanting to sell 5 million Kinect units by the end of this year, and they claim that these initial numbers put them on track for that. But I can’t help wondering how this news stacks up to Kinect’s motion-controlling competition. First-week ticket sales mean everything at the box office, so why not apply that same prognostication factor to gaming? One million units in ten days is a great pull quote, Read more »

When Video Games Addiction Turns Into Hallucinations

When Video Games Addiction Turns Into Hallucinations

I bet all of you who played or play a lot of video games, still have the music and sounds stuck in your head. I used to play Mario Bros. so much as a kid that I dreamed about the game regularly. Not much fun when you are seven years old and the dreams includes Bowser aka King Koopa. Imagine starting to hallucinate about video games now in your adulthood, that would be something, no?
