We all have that one person in our lives who’s just impossible to shop for. If you’re facing that eternal conundrum (what do you get for the person who has everything?), and money is no object… have I got the thing for you! You’re looking at a real-life, actually-works, street-legal Tron Lightcycle, based on the cycles from Tron Legacy. One assumes that the trailing ribbon of energy is not included, but in every other way, this is as close to the real deal as you’ll ever get. And it’ll set you back a mere $55,000. Made by Parker Brothers Custom Choppers in Florida, these Lightcycle replicas are made with a steel Read more »

Navteq GPS – The Perfect Christmas Gift
This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of NAVTEQ. All opinions are 100% mine. I love my in-dash GPS. I’m not trying to sell you anything so I won’t get into the nitty gritty of who the manufacturer is or what the model is. However, earlier this year, I ran into a problem. My wife and I decided to spend the day at a relatively new shopping outlet that opened about 60 miles away from home. We set out with a full wallet, ready to embrace a day of deep discounts and food court calories. As we exited the highway, I was relying solely on my in-dash Read more »
Is Twitter Ready for Social Gaming?
Facebook games are so five minutes ago. Make no mistake: Farmville, Texas Hold ‘Em, Bejeweled Blitz, and Mafia Wars are big money-makers on Facebook. Now one game company wants to find out if games on Twitter can have the same level of success. Play140, which uses the tagline “social games with words,” wants to turn your tweets into word-based gameplay. Having just started its beta period, Play140 currently offers three games: The Acronym Game, Robot Smash Battle, and Be Greedy. Playing is as simple as following the dedicated Twitter feed for a particular game, and each of them operates as variations of a similar play mechanic where Play140 sends out Read more »
Adidas Star Wars Sneakers
Adidas Originals has partnered with LUCASFILM Ltd to create, yet again, Star Wars branded sneakers. The Star Wars x adidas Originals is set for a Sping/Summer 2011 release. The Star Wars theme is very obvious in some of the shoes design and less in others. The Select Pack will contain characteristics from an AT-AT Pilot on the El Dorado, the city of Coruscant on the Skyline and Emperor Palpatine on the ZX 8000 and more. These shoes remind me of the recent story of a little girl who was bullied at school for bringing a Star Wars water bottle. She was bullied because, “Star Wars is for boys only”. This Read more »
Superman’s Secret Revealed! Well, not really.
I was unsure of the new direction of the Superman title, what with the walkabout and the apparent absence of any long-term plot, one of the major strong points of the Super-titles of the last two decades. I am pleased to say I have been pleasantly surprised. The stories have been reminiscent of some of the better titles of the late seventies and early eighties, but updated for today’s tastes. After all, many of those stories don’t translate as well as they could, it wasn’t called the Bronze Age of comics for no reason. Case in point, this weeks Superman #706. I think this was the best ‘OMG! Superman’s secret Read more »
Amazing Typewriter Art
Just the other night, a friend remarked that she missed using the typewriter. While I can say that I miss the clickety-clack of the metal parts hitting the cylinder, the typewriter doesn’t really come anywhere near the modern machines we take for granted these days. But did you ever think of using the typewriter to create works of art? Read more »
