TRON Bit Paper Art

Tomorrow is the big day for TRON fans all over the world. Have you gotten movie tickets in advance or are you going to brave the elements and queue up with everyone else? I swear, this is the last TRON-related post I’ll put up for a while. This cool paper art is actually not new, but for sure, TRON fans will enjoy these. Read more »

New Universes And Old

New Universes And Old

Well, now we have seen the crop of Stan Lee’s new titles from Boom! – Soldier Zero, The Traveller and StarBorn, the first of which reaches its third issue today. Now we can see how the three titles fit together and the general shape of this new universe. It all seems to centre around a hostile alien race and their human allies, a team of time-travelling metas who embody different scientific forces, obviously leading up to the first crossover event, however far away that may be. I will be happy if that is far in the future, three titles is hardly an expensive layout for a corssover, but I hope Read more »

Fallon Gets First Uncharted 3 Hands-On

Fallon Gets First Uncharted 3 Hands-On

Whether you find Jimmy Fallon funny or not, there’s no denying that the guy’s a hardcore geek. He was the first late-night talk show host to openly embrace technology and social media — something that most other hosts still haven’t entirely figured out. (Well, Conan gets it, but only recently.) Anyway… with Fallon’s geek cred, it’s no surprise that he got the world’s first-ever hands-on demo with Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. It’s a short video — less than five minutes — during which the controller is traded between Naughty Dog co-presidents Evan Wells & Christophe Balestra and Fallon. But there are several moments of Uncharted’s patented cinematic intensity on display in Read more »

THOR Trailer + Screengrabs

THOR Trailer + Screengrabs

Next summer is truly the summer of the superhero. DC is launching its Green Lantern franchise with Ryan Reynolds, while Marvel ups the ante with not one but two big-budget hero movies: Captain America and Thor. The first trailer for Thor is here, and it’s pretty darn amazing looking. Chris Hemsworth looks the part, and the cast is wisely filled out with seasoned actors like Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan Skarsgard, and Renee Russo. Kenneth Brannagh is an inspired choice as director, because the film has a terrific look and feel that’s faithful to the comics while making the character and his world accessible to mainstream audiences. I’m impressed. And Read more »

Playboy Gets Its Game On – Via TRON [NSFW]

Playboy Gets Its Game On – Via TRON [NSFW]

The anticipation for TRON: Legacy is reaching new heights as the day of its release draws nearer and nearer. Speaking as one who has scored free tickets to the premiere showing here in my neck of the woods, I must say that all things TRON have been catching my eye lately. While I am not one to normally put NSFW stuff up on here (yeah, yeah), this entry was just begging to be written. Fasten your seatbelts, ladies and especially you gentlemen, here are two Playboy bunnies all dolled up, TRON-style. Read more »

Game Vids: Special Edition

Game Vids: Special Edition

Mass Effect 3. Elder Scrolls 5. Forza 4. Uncharted 3. Prototype 2. Resistance 3. Batman: Arkham City. SSX. And a certain Guillermo del Toro game… Spike’s Video Game Awards aired over the weekend, and while few gamers or industry insiders consider the awards themselves to be all that prestigious, the industry does always take the opportunity to unveil a slew of new games for the coming year with fancy, big-budget trailers. Which are always much bigger news than the award winners. So here are some of the biggest games you have to look forward to next year. Start saving up now. (Note that most of these trailers are intended for Read more »

12 Anime for Christmas

12 Anime for Christmas

For a country where Christians only make up 2% of the population, it’s hard to imagine that most of Japan celebrates Christmas. Of course, this also means that Japanese TV shows also celebrate Christmas with 1 or 2 episodes dedicated to the holiday, and anime is no exception. With Christmas fast approaching, anime fans may be looking for some anime episodes to get into the holiday spirit, so here are 12 Christmas anime that I recommend for this season. Love Hina Christmas Special Poor Keitaro still can’t find a way to confess his love for Naru, but with a little luck and some help from the girls at Hinata Inn, Read more »

Late Review: Fable III

Late Review: Fable III

I’m not ashamed to say that I adored Fable II with all my being. It was a giddy, blind love — a wholehearted willingness to look past the game’s blemishes and blunders (multiplayer, I’m glaring at you) and just enjoy all the things it got right. The thrilling fights, the wide-open world with near-infinite possibilities, the visible changes to the avatar based on your moral decisions, the terrific voice work, that beloved canine companion. Fable III ups the stakes by taking everything that worked in II and making it even better, and ditching the stuff that didn’t work at all. The RPG elements are simplified by replacing tedious menus with Read more »

A ‘No Blasters!’ Star Wars Alphabet

A ‘No Blasters!’ Star Wars Alphabet

Living in an apartment and with a baby boy on the way, Brandon and Emma Peat had to get creative with decorating the baby room. Painting the walls is not allowed so they were left with few options, posters and prints. Luckily for them they are both artists, so they decided to create their own illustrations. They created the Star Wars alphabet, an illustration for each letter representing a character from Star Wars. Only characters from the original trilogy were considered. I’m not a Star Wars expert but apparently the true fans do not like the prequels that much. Read more »
