Nick Veasey takes photography a step farther, taking x-ray photos of all kind of objects. He came with the idea years ago when he wanted to find a Pepsi can with a ring-pull prize of £100,000 inside a truck, full with thousands of Pepsi cans. He did not find the prize but he discovered his passion. With an x-ray device juts like hospitals use he started making amazing photos of all kinds of objects, like: a desk lamp, a flower, a stuffed bear and of large objects. A bobcat and even a Boeing 777. That takes a lot of shots and radiation to get it done. Read more »

Cardboard Toilet Paper Roll Art
Two-ply or three-ply? This is a no brainer for some (yours truly included), but you might be surprised at how some people do not really care what kind of toilet paper they grab from the supermarket shelves. So yeah, I might be anal when it comes to toilet paper (pun intended), but I don’t think much about that piece of cardboard tubing left behind when the roll is all used up. This, however, will make you think twice before you throw that cardboard tube away. (No, this is not about learning origami while in the bathroom.) Read more »
This Week in Game Vids
Here’s a handful of new gaming vids from the last week — all of which are definitely worth your valuable time. New MMO Rift is getting some buzz. Maybe you should find out why. Here’s how multiplayer works in the forthcoming Homefront, which is being pitched as “Call of Duty on American soil that’s under Korean occupation.” The sequel to ‘Splosion Man — Ms. ‘Splosion Man (naturally) — is coming in 2011, and here’s the first trailer. Here’s a look at the rumored “PlayStation Phone” prototype thanks to a leaked video over at Engadget. A pair of new vids show off multiplayer in Dead Space 2 and how the game Read more »
Inside HBO’s Game of Thrones
Winter is coming, and George R.R. Martin readers cannot wait till Spring 2011, when it actually does. Confused? In a world where the Starks, the Lannisters, and the Targaryens are the main players, summers last for decades, and so does winter. The longer and more pleasant the summer is, the colder the winter will be. In Spring next year, those of us in the real world will have the chance to (visually) enter the world that George R.R. Martin has created, courtesy of HBO. Read more »
The Most Debasing Anime Ever
For decades there have been people condemning anime for the way women are portrayed as objects of sexual desire rather than people. Countless examples can be found in series about everything ranging from boobs the size of watermelons to tentacles and S&M. There is one series however, that may surprise those of you who think you’ve heard (or seen) it all. Imagine for a moment that you’re the parent of a young daughter aged 7-12 (or perhaps you already are). Like most parents, you probably let your daughter watch some late afternoon cartoons, expecting that they’ll be about the same things the cartoons you watched were about: friendship, respect, understanding, Read more »
Halo Being Remade in HD?
November 2011 will mark the 10th anniversary of the first Halo game — the game that both started a franchise and launched a console (the original Xbox). So you might say that Microsoft has a soft spot for Halo 1. When Bungie jumped ship from Microsoft to Activision after this year’s Halo: Reach (review), no way was Microsoft going to let such a lucrative franchise just fade away. 343 Industries, a new studio internal to Microsoft, was formed primarily to take up the Halo mantle and keep cranking out new entries in the series. Their first game — widely believed to be Halo 4 — is rumored to be scheduled Read more »
And In The Wake Of Shadowland….
Now Shadowland has come to a conclusion, yet again the status quo in the Marvel universe has been upset. What has been a rather under-rated and nicely compacted Marvel event (for a change) has had quite a, well, progressive conclusion. Of course, the Beast was defeated, in an final battle that if anything was a trifle anti-climatic, but then I don’t see that as the point of the mini-series. What really excited me is the immediate jump into the new situation. We have Ghost Rider back in action, after his revamp into a far more impressive character over the course of the last few years he is now front and Read more »
Hollywood Movie Posters That Might Just Ruin Your Childhood – NOT!
Zombies, gore, and blood – these things never fail to catch the attention of people nowadays. While you can only take so much, you cannot deny that we need a healthy dose every now and then. Now, if you’re a movie buff as well, then you are in for a treat on this Friday. Read more »
Alien Life Found – For Real
NASA has discovered a new form of bacterial life that can only be described as “alien,” because this particular bacteria violates science’s building blocks of life here on earth. The microorganism in question is called GFAJ-1 (NASA sure knows how to name ‘em), and arsenic is its primary chemical component. Yes, arsenic. As in, poison. Let me restate that: a new lifeform has been discovered that’s built on a poisonous chemical. And that’s what the thing looks like, in the image above. “The definition of life has just expanded,” says NASA’s Ed Weiler, calling GFAJ-1 “life as we do not know it.” Let me break it down for you. There Read more »
Xbox Launches Rewards Program
Nintendo has Club Nintendo. Now Microsoft has created “Xbox Live Rewards” to reward players for doing things they already do. What’s the reward? Microsoft Points, which you can use to buy anything on Xbox Live, just like other MS Points you purchase with your own money. So what do you have to do to earn MS Points through Xbox Live Rewards? Most of them involve spending your hard-earned money, but on the upside, you’re spending it on stuff you’d buy anyway. Stuff like buying or renewing an Xbox Live membership, buying downloadable games and items on Xbox Live, including specially-designated Xbox Live content. UK users can activate Sky on their Read more »
