Sega Lets Anarchy Reign

Sega Lets Anarchy Reign

Sega has taken the wraps off a new multiplayer brawler from Platinum Games that puts a whole new spin on the genre. Anarchy Reigns pits you against multiple opponents — all at the same time — in a huge arena in a gory, online battle royale. Various modes of play will allow for differing challenges such as a tag team round. The game’s director, Masaki Yamanaka, describes the twist Platinum has devised for the game’s design philosophy as having over the top fist-to-fist action. “The thrill of victory and the agony of defeat are both amped up far beyond what you would ever experience in a shooter,” he explains. Meet the New Superman

Meet the New Superman

Henry Cavill. Heard that name before? I hadn’t until the news broke that he’s been cast as Superman in the new Zack Snyder/Christopher Nolan reboot of the franchise, tentatively titled Superman: The Man of Steel. If you look him up on IMDB, you’ll find that he’s got a short list of credits, mostly roles in period pieces, and none of them terribly noteworthy. Read more »

Maximo Riera Octopus Chair

Maximo Riera Octopus Chair

Anyone who has ever held an office job or has dwelled in a basement knows the importance of a really comfortable chair. After all, hours – or days – of sitting down with the computer in front of you can only distract you from lower back pain and whatnot for so long. At the end of the day, a chair that will cradle you is what you yearn for. Then there’s the coolness factor. Sometimes, you totally forget about comfort – even for just a minute – when you are faced with something like this. That’s the Octopus Chair designed by Maximo Riera, painter and sculptor based in Cadiz. The Read more »

10 Interesting Foods in Anime

10 Interesting Foods in Anime

The other day I was watching “Is This a Zombie,” a new anime series this season, when I got to the point where they showed Haruna’s super delicious omelettes. That got me wondering, what kind of other weird foods have appeared in anime? After thinking for a while, I came up with a list of some of the more interesting foods to appear. This isn’t including food from food-related anime like Yakitate Japan or else it would be a long list. Haruna’s Omelette (Is This a Zombie?) Since this is what got me started on the idea, here’s Haruna’s omelette. While it wobbles around like a slime from an rpg Read more »

How to Use Garageband for a Karaoke Party

Need to brush up on your singing or guitar playing? Too embarrassed to sing karaoke in front of a live audience? Is Rock Band not stimulating enough for you? Here’s a little solution that might do the trick. Using Garageband, there’s a way to reproduce popular songs. It has the capability to remove the individual instruments or melody, making it possible for you to mute the vocals and sing over it like you would do with a karaoke machine. You could also mute the guitars and play along as if you were rehearsing with a full band. Follow these three easy steps: Read more »

Wins and Fails This Week in Geek v 14

Flying marijuana, fighting Facebook and denied Dungeon Masters, oh my! As usual it’s been another random week of ups and downs in geekhood, and we’re back with the best of the best and the worst of the worst. Jumping straight into the deep end… WIN: Medieval Machinery In the “creative usage of archaic weaponry” category we have Mexican drug dealers winning this week with the application of a catapult to sail marijuana across the border between Mexico and Arizona. The 3 yard tall catapult is capable of launching 4.4 pounds of weed at a time. Catapults aren’t just for little people flinging pumpkins anymore, folks. Read more »

Five Cool iPhone Cases

Five Cool iPhone Cases

Even though I believe that when you buy a nice looking gadget you should show it off instead of putting it in a case, the iPhone 4 is just to delicate to leave unprotected. I wouldn’t be able to look at the iPhone if it had ugly scratches without feeling irritated. Here I have listed five iPhone cases that stand out, even the simple build ones of Angry Birds, but Angry Birds is all the rage these days. It’s all about the brand. Angry Bird iPhone Cases Etch A Sketch iPhone Case Grove Bamboo iPhone Cases Retro Calculator iPhone Case Odyssey iPhone Case I have the iPhone 4 since October Read more »

id Software doesn’t want you to forget that Rage — its next-generation first-person-shooter — exists. So here’s a handful of lovely new screenshots that show some of the impressive visuals the game has to offer. Rage been in the works for at least four years now, having been first announced way back in 2007. The game sends you to a post-nuclear-apocalyptic land, where you’ll fight for your life against terrifying mutants, engage in breakneck vehicular combat, and explore a vast new world full of colorful characters and fascinating locales.
