We’ve got all the biggies and lots of others you’ve never heard of — but need to. You’ll find no comedic chick-flicks, moody dramas, or “important documentaries” on this list. This is pure popcorn movie magic, baby. If it’s not listed here, then you don’t need to care about it. Social Media in Church and State

Social Media in Church and State

Social networking needs no shots in the arm, yet it received two this week anyway, courtesy of major endorsements from the White House and the Pope. The White House will be utilizing the social aspects of Twitter and YouTube in particular to complement the President’s State of the Union Address. Senior administrative officials in the Obama administration will field questions from Twitter users after the speech, while later in the week Press Secretary Robert Gibbs will also do a question and answer session on the microblogging giant. The Dark Knight Rises Fan-Made Posters

The Dark Knight Rises Fan-Made Posters

Update: Check this post for the Dark Knight Rises poster. Last week Robin posted about the villains that are going to be featured in The Dark Knight Rises and who was cast for the roles. Bane starring Tom Hardy and Catwoman starring Anne Hathaway will be The Dark Knight nemesis in the third movie. I’m not an expert on the whole Batman/Dark Knight franchise, but I believe it is the second time we’ll see the character Bane in a movie. Please correct me if I’m wrong. As for Catwoman, Anne Hathaway succeeds numerous actress before her whom have portrayed the role of Catwoman. According to Sheldon Cooper he thinks these Read more »

2 Fan Films You MUST See

2 Fan Films You MUST See

Fans of two of the biggest gaming franchises around — Half-Life and Fallout — have produced some mighty impressive fan films, and I giddily present them to you today for your viewing enjoyment. Trust me: both short films are worth your valuable time, featuring impressive visual effects, violence galore, slavish devotion to their source material, and smart storytelling. The fact that both films are set in dystopian versions of Earth is entirely coincidental. First up: Beyond Black Mesa, based on Half-Life 2, is created by amateur filmmakers Brian Curtin and Matthew Hall, who shot the movie for $1,200 and took two years to complete. For our second (and much longer) Read more »

You’ll Never Want Any Other NERF Gun

You’ll Never Want Any Other NERF Gun

Political correctness may warrant the avoidance of toy guns and other similar objects, but sometimes, you need to ignore being PC in order to have fun. In any case, when it comes to guns, I don’t think NERF guns are offensive at all. The story of NERF guns dates back to 1970 when Hasbro released “the world’s first official indoor ball” and the rest, as they say, is history. Toy guns may come and go, but NERF will always have a special place in our hearts. Now what if you can have your very own custom-made NERF gun? What if we up the ante a bit and say that you Read more »

These Fantasy Horns Will Blow You Away

These Fantasy Horns Will Blow You Away

I don’t know about you, but I need a fantasy fix. I haven’t even had the time to read latest Wheel of Time book! Yeah, I am a slacker. But anyway, here is something that took care of my yearning for some fantasy. It’s not text, but these photos are seriously going to take your breath away. Horns are a staple in fantasy stories, and I am sure fantasy fans have their very own ideas as to how horns in stories look. Well, stop imagining and take a look at the work of Phillip Montgomery aka bonecarverpm. He makes use of real animal horns and carves them with awesome designs. Read more »

Duke Nukem Forever Coming May 3rd

Duke Nukem Forever Coming May 3rd

“When it’s done” is here. At last. For years — more than a decade, in fact — that three-word phrase was always the answer for when we fans might finally get our grubby little fingers on the sequel to Duke Nukem 3D. Of course, we all know what happened during all that time. It’s a long, sordid story that involves Gearbox Software rescuing the game from original publisher 3D Realms’ bankruptcy, and frankly I’m tired of telling it. All that matters now is that the game is finally coming, and its release date is now within sight. On May 3rd, North America will be able to purchase Duke Nukem Forever Read more »

Akihabara Pedestrian Zone Returns

Akihabara Pedestrian Zone Returns

On January 23, 2011 the Akihabara pedestrian zone was reopened to the public, much to the delight of weekend Akiba goers. The Akiba pedestrian zone is an area of Chuo-dori, the main street of Akiba, that is blocked off from traffic on Sunday afternoons to allow more room for pedestrians to move about. On a regular day, you would find cosplayers, maids, and various performers out on the street, along with plenty of photographers. That all changed over two years ago when a man killed 7 people using a truck and knife. The pedestrian zone was shut down until further notice and a bit of Akiba died that day. Now Read more »

Valentine’s Day is in a few short weeks and it’s time to think about what to get that special person in your life.  There’s flowers, but they die.  Not exactly a way to express love.  There’s chocolate, but that’s unhealthy and no one wants to bite into anything featuring marshmallow by accident.  For the geek in your life, here are 6 great options for you to knock the socks off the nerd in your life.
