Wins and Fails This Week in Geek v 16

Wins and Fails This Week in Geek v 16

Hot geek threesomes (who’da thunk it?), French kiss (leave Meg Ryan out of this), Microsoft oopsies (not that a Microsoft mistake is newsworthy), Verizon being daft (when are they not?) and Amazon on the warpath (Amazon vs. Netflix will be more interesting than the entire catalog of either company’s on demand video). It’s a steamy week in geek, so let’s get to the good stuff. WIN: Chess, Algebra and Music It’s a triple threat this week! Jonathan W. Stokes, blogger and man clearly gifted with superior intelligence and entirely too much time on his hands, used algebra to turn famous chess games into piano music, which he then turned into Read more »

Starcraft and World of Warcraft Theme Park in China

Starcraft and World of Warcraft Theme Park in China

China will grow larger. And the larger they grow, so do the niche markets they serve. Currently under construction in the Wunjin District is a video gaming theme park with World of Warcraft and Starcraft as the most recognizable crowning gems. The park will open this coming March 2011, bringing in more reason for us to go visit Asia. Now we’re not quite sure if this is an official partnership, as the logos and the overall name of the park “World of Joyland” don’t look too authentic. But yeah, we will find out in a couple of weeks! [Park Website | Source] Read more »

LEGO Mystery Box

LEGO Mystery Box

Robin just shared some of the best LEGO ads yesterday, and he hit the nail right on the head when he said something about simplicity and genius. What I am going to show you today, however, is pure genius with all thoughts about simplicity thrown out of the window. Todd Wilder shared his biggest LEGO project with the rest of the world, and I believe that it is going to be a hit with every AFOL out there. Todd’s idea is anything but simple. He created a box that has eight compartments, and each compartment must be opened following a certain order. Todd says the idea took seed when his Read more »

This Rubik’s Cube Can Save Your Life

This Rubik’s Cube Can Save Your Life

How prepared are you for the Zombiecalypse? If you have made it your life goal (or at least one of your life goals) to make sure that you will not be caught unawares in case zombies take over the world, I have something that you can add to your arsenal: the Rubik’s Cube ala Brain. Artist Jason Freeny has created a Rubik’s Cube that may very well save your life in case a zombie goes after you. This cube functions just like any Rubik’s Cube – it was made from one – but it looks just as if it were made from brain matter. Never mind that the color of Read more »

Best LEGO Ads Ever

Best LEGO Ads Ever

How can something so simple be so genius? I’ve never seen a LEGO ad that better represents the spirit of imagination and fun that the famous building blocks embody than this clever series. Displaying the simple slogan, “Make your own story,” these five print ads are laugh-out-loud funny, depicting moments from Star Wars that never happened. (Plus, I’m giving them bonus points for using only Original Trilogy characters.) The primary colors-filled ads were created by students at the Escola Cuca Advertising School of Brazil. No word on where they’ve been used. Credit where it’s due: the images were originally posted at Ads of the World, creativity blog Whitezone was the first to Read more »

Gears of War Ends This Fall

Gears of War Ends This Fall

Gears of War 3 marks the conclusion of the blockbuster video game trilogy, but exactly when it would arrive has been a source of much debate among players. Today Epic Games revealed to the world that the finale would arrive on Tuesday, September 20th, 2011 for Xbox 360. By the way Gearheads, I wouldn’t fret over the trilogy ending. It’s just the conclusion of this story. As Halo proved, series publisher Microsoft knows how to keep a franchise alive beyond its first storyline — especially when it sells gazillions of copies. I’m sure there will be plenty more Gears in our future. The third Gears of War is expected to break Read more »

Grab some popcorn and watch this 1 hour Dragon Age 2 Demo Playthrough

Grab some popcorn and watch this 1 hour Dragon Age 2 Demo Playthrough

How else can you satiate the anticipation for Dragon Age 2 than to sit back and watch this one hour play-through with commentary. The Dragon Age franchise is this generation’s Baldur’s Gate and I’m a bit disappointed in how its sequel has turned the combat into pretty much a standard hack and slash. Yeah, there is a tactical view and perhaps you can find a good reason to pause the game during combat, but from the initial demo I do have to say that the game’s been made more suitable for arcade-style players, perhaps for the benefit of the console market. In any case, if you’ve got an hour to Read more »

The Best iPad 2 Review – Ever!

The Best iPad 2 Review – Ever!

If you think that your iPad is the best thing that Apple has ever come up with, think again! The rumor mill is ablaze with talk that the iPad 2 is coming out very very soon; although, as usual, no one can give any conclusive data. If you are detail kind of guy, then you will love this video I discovered earlier today. Somehow, this guy got his hands on the much awaited Apple iPad 2. Being the sharing person that he is, he decided to share his experiences with the iPad 2. He even made a very comprehensive video, which reviews practically all the features that the new iPad Read more »

Dwayne McDuffie

Dwayne McDuffie

In case you haven’t already heard, it is my sad duty to report that Dwayne McDuffie passed away yesterday, due to complications due to a surgical procedure the night before.  Here at ForeverGeek, we would like to offer our condolences to his family and friends, and take a moment to recognise what a vast contribution Mr McDuffie made to the world of comics. That is not to mention his work for television and on the silver screen. When I think of Mr McDuffie, the very first thing that springs to mind is always Milestone, where he was co-founder of the company with Denys Cowan, Michael Davis and Derek T Dingle. Read more »
