By all accounts, AMC’s The Walking Dead was the most exciting new show of 2010, delivering record ratings (for cable) and endless watercooler fodder. So a video game based on this couldn’t-be-hotter property seems like a foregone conclusion, right? Well, yeah. But you may be surprised at who’s making The Walking Dead: The Game. It’s Telltale Games, the company best known for episodic adventures like Sam & Max and Strong Bad. Telltale has been making a major push lately into licensed Hollywood properties, an initiative that kicked off with Back to the Future: The Game (review) and the upcoming Jurassic Park: The Game. The Walking Dead will be based on the Read more »

Are You Ready for the Moss Invaders?
All sorts of theories about alien beings invading the earth have been concocted over the years, and I am pretty sure that there has been at least one story written with moss as the invading life form. What Kimi Spencer and Marko Manriquez have created is not meant to cause fright and paranoia about aliens taking over our planet, though. The two have given urban art – a.k.a. graffiti – a different twist. Instead of spray paint and other “traditional” materials, Spencer and Manriquez are using moss to create a different kind of art, which was showcased at the ITP Winter Show 2010. The use of moss is not only Read more »
Ass cam confirms what we all know, men stare at women’s bottoms

Can a Rewrite Save the Spider-Man Musical?
I think the producers of Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark have figured out why no one’s ever attempted a superhero musical before. Geeky myths and high theatre just don’t mix very well. (I mean, seriously — when was the last time your favorite hero-in-tights suddenly stopped fighting his or her archnemesis so they could burst forth in song?) The story of Spider-Man‘s ascent to the Broadway stage is turning out to be even more epic than the play itself. The latest twist: a new writer has been hired to take a pass at the play’s script, to address its weaknesses. Those who’ve seen preview showings of the musical have described Read more »
Dead Island’s reverse chronological trailer makes me want to blow my nose
Beautiful. Just beautiful. Dead Island’s teaser trailer makes my eyes swell as we’re brought to the end of the action to see how most zombie plots turn out — everyone’s dead. It’s the reverse-chronological drama that grips you with the parting shot of dad and daughter reaching out for one another. The trailer showcases the best of the Chrome Engine 4, which was also used for Call of Juarez. The game looks amazing, but will it diversify itself from the cookie-cutter zombie survival games out there? Read more »
New RAGE Trailer is Like a Blockbuster Movie
I found a new trailer for Rage in my inbox today, so I had to post it for you to see. This one really gives you a great sense of the feel and atmosphere of the game, with some of id’s trademark intense, bloody gunplay. As such: keep the kids away from the screen when you watch this one. Rage takes place in a pretty twisted world where the rules of society have largely broken down after some kind of apocalypse. The game’s storyline — main characters, plot, etc. — are being kept under wraps for now, but this trailer gives us the biggest and best tease yet. Rage arrives Read more »
Wins and Fails This Week in Geek v 15
What do you get when the DHS, trivia ‘bots, Facebook stress and comets collide? You get the wins and fails this week in geek! Read on to discover the best and worst this week had to offer. FAIL: Doing Your Homework …which is precisely what the Department of Homeland Security failed to do when it yanked some 84,000 sites offline during a massive Internet raid for child pornography and counterfeit goods. To be fair, they got it right with a whopping 10 sites which deserved that increasingly infamous DHS seizure image. But the 84,000 which did not have received little to no acknowledgment of the fairly substantial “oopsy”. The problem Read more »
Wolverine Vs. The Hand
If you have found yourself whining about the quality of homemade videos in the recent months, here is something that might give you hope. Commercial/video director Gary Shore created his own X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 trailer, and it certainly might be the best fan-made video for the movie out there. Granted, Shore does “this thing” for a living, but still his idea of creating his own story board is nothing but ace. The actual video – from the graphics to the haunting music to the putting together of all the elements – will captivate you. Even my 2-day-old nephew stopped his wailing when I put the video on! Wolverine Vs Read more »
‘Book Art’ by Isaac Salazar – Incredible 3D Typography
Literature is art, but discarded works of literature as art? Pictured above is evidence of just that and there’s a great deal more from an artist creating tremendous pieces in his spare time. Read more »
Insurance Map Typography
Typography is one of the things that some of us here at ForeverGeek are passionate about. I will definitely not claim to know much about typography, but I think that I have spotted some rather interesting antique samples. Now insurance maps may not be the first thing that come to mind if you are looking for some typography eye candy, but bearing in mind how they did things in the old days, this collection of photos is not at all surprising. When now things are mass produced and price is of prime consideration, it seems that these photos of pages of old insurance maps were meant to please the eye Read more »
