It seems that a majority of my friends are Star Wars fans, and I have heard about the adorable characteristics of Jar Jar Binks one time too often.  This Gungan from the planet Naboo does provide comic relief, but apparently, he is not loved by everyone.  Then again, there is no pleasing everybody anyway.

So these guys from Comic Twart¹ decided to feature Jar Jar as their character of the week.  For those who may not have heard of them yet, this blog is comprised of a handful of guys (well, more than a handful actually) who have fun with their character of choice every week.  The artists share their own rendition of the chosen character and post them in the blog.  Before I share some of the twarts’ (that’s what they call themselves) work, let me tell you that just because they choose a character, it does not mean that they will portray the character in a good light.  Jar Jar Binks’s fans who are sensitive about their favorite character may not like some of the following images. ;)

This first drawing is by Mitch Breitweiser who says that due to his busy schedule, a “quick sketch” was all he was able to come up with.  I say that that is still a pretty good sketch, don’t you think?

Francesco Francavilla is responsible for this rather dark portrayal of the comedic character, but I think he added more depth with his work.  Or am I putting too much meaning into it?

Okay, here is the start of not-so-flattering portrayals.  This drawing is by Urbanbarbarian who says that he hates Jar Jar.  Aww.

And if you thought that one was not flattering, cover your eyes if you love Jar Jar.  Better yet, just stop reading.
I did warn you, didn’t I?² If you are feeling awful right now because you didn’t heed my warning, trust me – heed this one.

Again, I gave you ample warning.  Even this non-Jar Jar fan finds this last image tummy-twisting.  We’ve got Ron Salas to thank for this.
