9 Peanuts Tattoos To Drool Over

9 Peanuts Tattoos To Drool Over

In keeping up with the tattoos series, I looked around the internet for Peanuts tattoos. Who doesn’t know Peanuts or it’s main character Charlie Brown? They never bore, each year without missing they are on TV for the holidays in the U.S. The comics are full of imparting wisdom’s. I found nine tattoos good enough to be posted here. There are lots of tattoo photos but personally I find only a handful good. People have different tastes, but some tattoos we can all agree are ugly. I choose nine tattoos, mostly Charlie Brown that are nicely done. Read more »

Wins and Fails This Week in Geek v 18

Wins and Fails This Week in Geek v 18

You’d be lucky to own the Sun, but you might want to steer clear of emoticons on XXX. If the preceding made no sense, it’s because you haven’t been keeping up with this week’s wins and fails in all things geek! Read on for the scoop… WIN: Selling the Sun Since Oracle announced it’d be decommissioning the Sun.com web site, which came with the $7 billion purchase of Sun Microsystems, speculation has been overflowing about whether or not they’d sell it – and what kind of price the domain would fetch. In addition to being a valuable 3-letter domain, it’s the 12th oldest .com domain on the Internet. Brokers say Read more »

Dutch Ad Makes 3D Sculptures from Books

Anne Frank

This takes the “author bio” to a whole new level. To promote this year’s Dutch Book Week, an advertising agency named Van Wanten Etcetera created this series of posters about autobiographies. The images, named “Written Portraits,” are comprised of books that sport the sculpted visages of their authors. The pages of the books are the real deal, using text from the depicted author’s actual autobiography. But despite how realistic they look, Dutch ad agency Souverein (translates as “Sovereign”) created the sculpted book images entirely via computer. Read more »

Whatever Happened to Star Wars Battlefront III?

Whatever Happened to Star Wars Battlefront III?

Star Wars: Battlefront took gamers by surprise when it released in 2004. With its combination of familiar Star Wars locations, races, weapons, and vehicles, and fast-paced, any-way-you-want-it gameplay was the game that fans never knew they always wanted. Its addictive gameplay got a serious upgrade one year later with Battlefront II, which introduced playable Jedi, updated graphics, and a slew of bigger, badder battlefields. You’d think Lucasarts would have been all over a third installment to such a lucrative franchise, but here we are six years since the last game was released (not counting a trio of mobile games), and we have yet to see a next-gen Battlefront. Not that it’s Read more »

World’s Largest LEGO Great Ball Contraption

World’s Largest LEGO Great Ball Contraption

You can never get enough of LEGO, can you? I am pretty sure AFOLs out there already know about the Great Ball Contraption, but just in case it is a new concept, let me introduce you to the guys who are passionate about this relatively new hobby. The Great Ball Contraption cannot be summed up neatly, but suffice it to say that you use all sorts of LEGO bricks to create a system in which balls move from one place to another. Think about a model train set, but with balls and in a more complicated manner. Last February, a competition was held in Copenhagen, where this record-breaking creation took Read more »

10 Sexiest Villains

10 Sexiest Villains

This morning AlterNet have posted a very interesting article entitled “Why Is Evil So Sexy?” This rather get me to thinking, just who are the ten sexiest villains of super-herodom? Of course,  I need to define sexy here. I’m not going to explore the physical attributes of the characters, lest purely Batman villainesses populate my list. I’m more thinking in terms of attitude, competence, sheer fear factor and who contribute to an overall compelling story. 10. Darth Vader Not directly belonging to comics, the arch-villain redeemed when coupled with an examination of his drives contributes to an engaging read. Darth Vader has to be the very embodiment of this. 9. The Read more »

Ubisoft Announces New Music Game (Uh, What?)

Ubisoft Announces New Music Game (Uh, What?)

Did somebody forget to tell the good folks at Ubisoft that rhythmic gaming is dying? I mean, didn’t they hear all the big news about Activision pulling the plug on the Guitar Hero and DJ Hero franchises? I guess they didn’t hear, because Ubisoft has just announced a brand new music game franchise called Rocksmith. What sets Rocksmith apart is that instead of a guitar-shaped controller, you play it with any real guitar. It has to be a guitar with a standard quarter-inch input jack, but through a process that Ubisoft is keeping top secret, the game will somehow be able to detect whether or not your guitar chords and Read more »

Pop Those Claws

Pop Those Claws

Right up there with flying, or maybe wallcrawling, there may be no other superpower that fans covet more than Wolverine‘s claws. Cosplayers love to wear fake claws, but they can’t actually pop them the way that Logan does. There have been fans who’ve managed to make fake claws that expand and retract, but this has always required a switch or lever, which undoubtedly dilutes the experience. Even Hugh Jackman, who plays Wolverine in the movies and uses the highest-quality faux-adamantium claws money can buy, has no idea what it feels like to make those claws pop out — his Hollywood prop claws are real enough, but when they pop on screen, it’s Read more »

The Alphabet in LEGO – and They’re Spaceships, too!

The Alphabet in LEGO – and They’re Spaceships, too!

What’s better than a Star Wars-inspired alphabet book? My answer is probably going to be contested by at least one person out there, but this is the best I can do for now: The letters of the alphabet made in LEGO and designed to look like spaceships as well. LEGO and space – tell me that doesn’t kick butt! LEGO enthusiasts – both kids and AFOLs alike – will be drooling over the work of Mark Anderson, a Chicago-based cartoonist. He shares the story behind the conception of the idea: When I was a kid growing up on Star Wars, I thought the X-wing was the best spaceship I’d ever Read more »
