If you are a fan of race cars and you loved Speed Racer’s Mach 5, you can now own your own real Mach 5 car. Car maker Koenigsegg showed last year their show car named Agera. Defining the next generation of Koenigsegg and hypercars.
This year they started the production of the Koenigsegg Agera R, which is very much inspired by the Mach 5.
The original cartoon Mach 5 was the best race car of its time. For me the Batmobile is more of stunt and gadget car than a race car. There is only one Mach 5 and it has always been an awesome race car.
Koenigsegg has yet to release a price of the Agera R, it won’t be cheap but I’m guessing a lot of geeks who loved Speed Racer and now have a hefty bank account will consider this car.
A few highlights of the Agera R specifications:
- Acceleration: 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) 2.9 seconds
- Lateral g-force: 1.6 g
- Engine: Koenigsegg aluminum 5,0L V8, 4 valves per cylinder, double overheadcamshafts
- Traction: Control F1-style for optimal performance with 5 different handling modes
Cars are not my favorite objects but I can appreciate a nice car. I love watching all car shows on the Discovery channel, which is where the little car knowledge I have comes from. I hope some day I get to see the Agera R life. I can already hear Speed Racer’s theme song playing in my head just by looking at the photos.
