One of the things that always fascinates me in stories (especially fantasy) is the food. Well, the same can be said of real life, but there is something to be said about how authors of fantasy books describe food. I suppose that given the immense amount of creativity necessary to come up with a successful fantasy book (not to mention series), one can only expect the description of the cuisine to be as detailed as possible. Another great thing about food in fantasy stories is that you can actually make the dishes – or at least give it a try – in real life. Today. This is not a new Read more »

The Creepiest Thing You’ll See All Day
A few weeks ago, I showed you 33 examples of “untooned” cartoon characters. That is, what your favorite cartoon peeps like Homer Simpson, Charlie Brown, and Bugs Bunny would look like if they existed in the real world, with human skin, actual fur, etc. Today, a tremendously talented artist who works for Spanish visual effects house Plan 9 FX, unveiled a silicon bust he created, showing with extraordinary realism what a certain Muppet character would look like if it were human. He doesn’t tell you who his bust is supposed to be, but he doesn’t have to. Read more »
Minecraft in Real Life
Ever wondered what it would be like to play with Minecraft‘s pixelated blocks in the real world? Jeffrey Kam and Cody McCabe did, so they printed out Minecraft’s textures and formed them into scale recreations that were put in a hands-on art display at San Jose State University. Read more »
HBO’s Game of Thrones: Not Your Ordinary “Boy Fiction”
HBO’s Game of Thrones is definitely not fit for viewing during the Lent, but I have been putting it off for a while now – well several days – and I figured there’s no better time to watch it than now. I have been raving about George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series ever since I finished the first book. Much like any fan of the books, I had also been waiting for the series to actually air. Before I got to watch the pilot, though, I had the pleasure – or displeasure – of reading a review at The New York Times. I have to be Read more »
Mainstream Reads
With the Easter Weekend launched upon us, there’s plenty of time to catch up on our reading, so I thought I would make time to have a look at the shelves, and make a recommendation that I have not mentioned before. One title that I have not paid much attention to so far is Avengers Academy, but the recent two issue arc featuring the return (again) of Korvac (the cyborg from the future Guardians of The Galaxy era) and the Collector’s daughter Carina, drew heavily from the very original Avengers/Korvac arc, yet maintained its own independence. With the smattering of continuity as a backdrop, the central characters really came to Read more »
Ultimate 80s T-Shirt
Have you ever heard of Tee Fury? It’s this nifty website where every day, they make one new t-shirt available for just 24 hours or until it sells out. All shirts are sold for $10 (+ shipping), and they never make that same t-shirt again. Their designs come mostly from members of their forum, who create the artwork, and Tee Fury then pays the designer $1 for every shirt they sell. Basically, they profit off of your fear of missing out on something good. Their designs are always geektastic, but as a geek of 80s, today’s design really captured my attention. The designer, “nganci,” combined Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1 with Transformers, the Read more »
Prototype Hero Goes Bad in Sequel
Alex Mercer, protagonist of the gory actioner Prototype, has become the villain. (Don’t you hate it when that happens?) Prototype 2 finds Mercer — still possessing all of the awesome power he mastered in the first game — infecting a new character named James Heller with the Prototype virus. Heller is the antithesis of Mercer, a family man with an actual moral code. But when Heller loses his family and is infected with the virus, he turns on Mercer, and in the words of developers at Radical Entertainment, “sets out to murder his maker.” I never played the first Prototype, but I wonder how gamers will react when the character they played Read more »

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. You will never lose weight if you do not eat a proper breakfast. You need breakfast to build up energy to get you through the day.
