Retro Video Games Mouse Pads and Ref Magnets

Retro Video Games Mouse Pads and Ref Magnets

Last week, while I was combing the bazaars of Kuala Lumpur for little trinkets to take home as gifts, I came across tons of stuff that I suppose will delight many of our ForeverGeek readers. From Domo-kun plushies and shirts to Angry Birds key chains to Superman/Batman belts to geek-themed mouse pads – they were all over the place. I remember the last group of items particularly because I remember thinking to myself “Who uses mouse pads these days?” I’ve been wrong before, and I am probably wrong now. If DesignNoy’s Etsy Shop is any indication, people still do use mouse pads. What’s more, people pay for the mouse pads, Read more »

Spring 2011 Suggested Anime

Spring 2011 Suggested Anime

With every season comes a new influx of anime ranging from good to bad, funny to serious, and tear-jerking to just plain weird. If you’re looking for something to watch, you might be overwhelmed by the 30 titles airing this season.  Even when you take out the sequels, there is still a handful of anime to take in. For those of you still undecided on what to follow this season, here is a short list of recommended titles. Hanasaku Iroha People are already praising Hanasaku Iroha as the shining jewel of the season, and for good reason. The anime is about a teenage girl, Ohana, who is forced to live Read more »

Shoot and play songs with the Harmonica Pistol

Shoot and play songs with the Harmonica Pistol

As a lover of music and a denizen of a state in support of the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment allowing for the right to bear arms, the Harmonica Pistol is a fascinating, albeit disturbing, combination of the two.  Unfortunately for players of the harmonica, the musical aspect in the firearm’s name is a bit of a misnomer. 13 Crazy Segway Mods

13 Crazy Segway Mods

Is there any geekier mode of transportation than the Segway Human Transporter? It was supposed to change the way we commute to and fro, but it turned out to be a novelty item used most notoriously by eccentrics like Steve Wozniak. But like all things people are passionate about, some fans are inclined to tweak and put their own spin on the Segway. Here are thirteen Segway mods that are just crazy enough to be real. (And don’t read that the wrong way — all of these are the genuine article.) Read more »

Nintendo’s Next Console Coming in 2012

Nintendo’s Next Console Coming in 2012

The long-rumored successor to the Wii is real, and it’s going to be unveiled at E3 in June. Compiling data from various reports, it sounds as though Nintendo is going well beyond a “Wii HD,” instead trying to revolutionize the industry once again with something unprecedented. Dubbed “Project Café” by Nintendo, the new console’s existence and planned debut were first reported by Game Informer, citing numerous anonymous inside sources. Corroborating reports stated that Nintendo’s next-gen system will offer HD graphics thanks to system specs on par with the current-gen Xbox 360 (some reports suggest it’s more powerful than both the 360 and the PS3), and a new controller that could Read more »

Heart Of Darkness

Heart Of Darkness

IDW’s Infestation certainly succeeded in one thing, and that’s in encouraging me to read the Transformers again. Other than a few issues last year, I have not really read the tales of Cybertron since the original Transformers movie way back in 1986, bar the recent movie adaptations. Remember the first arrival of Unicron? The introduction of the much maligned Hot-Rod and his evolution into Rhodimus Prime? The very first appearance of a female Transformer Arcee? (Not that I ever understood what the point of all that was. Surely robotic organisms are beyond gender?) Good memories. So, following the plug from Infestation, I dived into last weeks Transformers: Heart Of Darkness Read more »

Finally: Weather For Geeks

Finally: Weather For Geeks

Okay, so “Swackett” isn’t made specifically for us geeks, per se. But I guarantee you’re going to love it. Swackett is an app that takes weather data from AccuWeather and presents it in a simplified way. Want to know what the weather is like right now, or the forecast for tomorrow? Instead of the temperature and little pictures of clouds and whatnot, Swackett shows you “peeps” — picture icons of people who are always dressed appropriately for the weather. If it’s warm out, you’ll see peeps dressed in t-shirts and shorts. If it’s cold, the peeps will be bundled up in winter attire. The great thing about it is that Read more »
