Blind man excels at video games using sound

Blind man excels at video games using sound

Video games can be difficult.  Some so much so that yours truly, after failing miserably, refuses to play certain titles ever again.  That said, many gamers are fortunate enough to have the gift of sight to help them traverse the various levels imagined by the creators of games.  Read more »

A Noire Adventure for PS3

A Noire Adventure for PS3

PlayStation 3 owners: here’s a little title you probably haven’t heard of but need to know about. It’s called Red Johnson’s Chronicles, and it’s a downloadable title coming to PSN on Tuesday, April 19th. From French developer Lexis Numérique comes this story-driven noire adventure, a wicked tale of murder in a corrupt Metropolis. You play as the title character, a private detective named Red Johnson who’s trying to solve the case, with a new twist on the classic “point and click” adventure mechanic, which combines exploration, puzzle solving, and action. The crux of the game is built on interaction with the colorful NPC citizens of Metropolis (yep, they’re really using that Read more »

DeviantArtist ihateyouare has created a humongous portrait which is basically the world map of Super Mario RPG. Probably the worst — no wait, at 5:40 — the BEST Hitman: Blood Money player

Probably the worst — no wait, at 5:40 — the BEST Hitman: Blood Money player

Everybody loves Hitman: Blood Money. From pushing people two feet down to their deaths, to soiling panties with ether and running away from a madman on a wheelchair, Agent 47, when controlled well can have the ultimate nonchalance as a silent assassin. The truth is, what we see most of the time are moments of fail, mostly due to glitches and botched up timings. And yeah, falling to your death from two feet is still hilarious. Read more »

‘Angry Birds’ is for Babies – Try Angry Barrels!

‘Angry Birds’ is for Babies – Try Angry Barrels!

It’s about flippin’ time somebody put this Angry Birds obsession in its place. Seriously, I don’t get it. What’s so great about slingshotting little round birds into stacks of wood and pigs? I tried the game, and I still don’t see what the big deal is. The always-funny lads at CorridorDigital must feel the same way I do, because their latest parody video skewers Angry Birds with vengeance. Angry Barrels takes the idea behind Angry Birds and brings it into the real world, when one office worker has enough of his cohorts playing the iPhone game. Only instead of round little birds, he uses something a lot more powerful. The Read more »

10 Years of Halo

The Mona Lisa

Can you believe it’s been ten whole years since the first Halo debuted as a launch title with the original Xbox? Famously intended to be a high-profile FPS for the Mac, Microsoft instead purchased developer Bungie outright, making Halo the best reason to buy an Xbox. The rest, of course, is history. Kicking off a months-long celebration of Xbox’s flagship game, Microsoft today announced a slew of goodies for Halo fans that will begin this Friday. Read more »

Looking For My Treats

Looking For My Treats

Having a brief scan through today’s shipping list, at first glance it all looks rather uninspiring. Then again, I have been fooled like that before, and have often found some tremendous treats. For the ongoing that I am really passionate about, let me recommend Farscape once, #18 hits the stands again. The invasion of the Kkore is really heating up, and creating some curious alliances; ones that have been making me laugh out loud. After a wait that seems a little longer than the standard month, Image’s Infinite Vacation #2 also comes out today, and this is one mini I would say do not let slip past you. Of course, Read more »

Ecto-1 in LEGO

Ecto-1 in LEGO

No one does it like the Ghostbusters. These days, we see all sorts of paranormal (or parapsychological) shows on TV, but anyone who grew up with the Ghostbusters knows that these modern shows are nothing compared to the good old days. Now add LEGO into the mix, and no one stands a chance! Mizterzumbi recently showcased his LEGO-building skills that will make your jaw drop. He worked on the iconic Ecto-1, no less. Here’s the back/side view. In case you need to refresh your memory, here is the original Ectomobile. And here is the car with some minifigs built by Joe Klang. You can’t deny that this LEGO model is Read more »

15 Amazing ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Posters

15 Amazing ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Posters

The art of the fan-made poster is alive and well. Talented artists have been making fake posters for The Dark Knight Rises practically since the moment The Dark Knight ended. But since then, we’ve learned the title of the third movie (meh) and who the film’s stars and new characters will be (Bane! Catwoman!). These fifteen posters — fan-made, every one — reflect the real cast and potential storylines of the film. And you’ll wish that every one of them was real. Read more »

It’s Alive! The Universe Verse: Book 2

It’s Alive! The Universe Verse: Book 2

Almost one year ago I wrote Bang! An Illustration About The History of Everything, about an illustrated book for children (and grown ups) that teaches them about the Big Bang. The text is written in rhyme and the characters are an elderly couple. The writer/illustrator, James Dunbar has since then organized himself better and started a Kickstarter project to fund book 2 which is illustrated in color. Within five days he reached the $1000 pledged and by the end of the pledge he raised $6144. With that amount he created It’s Alive! The Universe Verse: Book 2. An illustrated book about the origin of life on Earth. There is an Read more »
