The Muppets hold a special place in the hearts of many people, and even today, it is not surprising to find people of all ages who smile in this goofy way when talking about Jim Henson’s creations. I have to be honest. I grew up watching these adorable puppets, but I cannot be considered a Muppets geek. While I am not sure if such a term officially exists, if it does, then Lance Cardinal of Vancouver more than qualifies. This guy created his own Muppet Theatre Playset from scratch! I don’t know if you are familiar with a toy company called Palisades that created Muppet Show Character figures almost a Read more »

Is It Summer Already?
Today sees the end of one company crossover and the beginning of another. IDW’s Infestation concludes with the second bookend issue of Infestation, while Marvel launches it’s mega-super-duper, will change the status quo as we know it (again), crossover; so big it touches every title AND requires a comprehensive set of limited series as well. Oh, and it’s an allegory for the recession apparently. How’s that work then? I am hoping for great things from Infestation#2. I enjoyed the first issue immensely, feeling it opened a lot of potential to get diverse characters together. I mean, come on, who hasn’t wanted to hear Spock’s reaction as he looked over Optimus Read more »
Here’s What ‘Spider-Man: Edge of Time’ Looks Like
The new Spider-Man game, Edge of Time, from the makers of last year’s Shattered Dimensions, has got a trailer and some early screenshots that show what it’s going to be like to play the game. I’ve got to say that although the game’s design and superpowers appear awfully similar to what was featured in Shattered Dimensions, there’s some very provocative new stuff in there, particularly in the screenshots. One shot shows a boss facing down against multiple copies of Amazing Spider-Man, in what one assumes must be some kind of power centered around control of time. A few other shots feature Amazing Spidey interacting directly with his successor — Spider-Man 2099, Read more »
Check Out Booster Gold & Blue Beetle on Smallville
The latest (and likely last, since the series is wrapping in May) pair of DC Comics characters to appear on Smallville are coming to a small screen near you on April 22nd. The CW sent over some pics of these two new additions to the Smallville-verse, and while one of them looks pretty good, I think they missed the mark on the other. Read more »
This guy’s Tetris video has individual videos inside each block
The whole thing speaks for itself. But he goes on to elaborate on how he did it: 1. Final Cut Express 2. Kodak Zi8 camera 3. My friends Sanyo Xacti camera 4. Sony Webby camera 5. MPEG Streamclip (for converting videos) 6. PhotoSel 1.5m x 2m Green Screen The whole thing took a month to make, with half the time trudging along with a bogged down computer. It had 212 layers total (there’s a 99 layer limit on Final Cut). Overall, the video speaks more about the guy’s patience more than anything else as there really isn’t anything truly amazing about it. Except maybe that he won Tetris in 3 Read more »

Okay, that may not be the slimmest, sleekest, and most stylish camera that you can think of, but hey, it’s made of LEGO bricks! Of course, he also had to put a lens in, as Read more »
Max Payne 3 Is Back – With Hair
Last year, Rockstar Games revealed that they were working on a return to the Max Payne franchise with an entirely new game engine and “many years later” approach to Max’s story. Max Payne 3 was shown off with some screenshots that showed Max having aged a eight years or so since the last game; he’d put on a little weight, shaved his head bald, and moved to Brazil, where he couldn’t find a decent laundromat. Fans weren’t enthused by what they saw, and Rockstar went radio silent on the game. Now, Rockstar is ready to talk about Max Payne 3 again, in the new issue of Edge (see the cover Read more »

Learn Binary By Doing the Binary Hand Dance
Roundabouts Pi Day 2011, I discovered this really smart girl called Vi Hart. She made a very strong case about her idea that pi is wrong, and while I can’t seem to accept the fact that pi is wrong, her video is really really cool. Now Vi seems to be gaining more geek cred with her creations. Her latest video is the perfect tutorial for people who have never gotten the hang of figuring out binary numbers. So what’s your trick when you “do” binary? Do you write the decimal numbers on your fingers? Do you have a cheat sheet? Let Vi show you how it’s supposed to be done Read more »
Kimi ni Todoke 2nd Season Review
Some of you may recall a review I wrote on an anime called Kimi ni Todoke, about a girl named Sawako Kuronuma who is isolated from her classmates for resembling the horrifying Sadako from The Ring. The second season of Kimi ni Todoke is 12 episodes long and picks up where the first season left off. Sawako has realized that she has feeling for the most popular guy in class, Shota Kazehaya, and the two of them have gotten a lot closer since the beginning of the first season. As with any romance series though, not everything is all smiles and hearts. Due to the inexperience of both Sawako and Shota in Read more »
