The Other Puella Magi

The Other Puella Magi

While the anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica only had 5 main puella magi in the cast, the last episode showed that there were many more of them. None of them were ever named, but fans have taken a crack at trying to guess who they are. Here is just a short look at who these other puella magi might be. Cleopatra One of the most agreed-upon identities is that of Cleopatra VII, the last pharaoh of Egypt. Signs pointing to her identity include the Egyptian clothing and servants in the background. Cleopatra ascended the throne in 51 BC, but was overthrown by her brother a few years later and exiled. Read more »

Check Out the New Voltron

Check Out the New Voltron

When I was little, my older brother and I used to fantasize about finding a secret compartment in our home that led to an ancient vault holding the Voltron lions, where we and three friends would learn to fly them and become the Voltron Force. It was silly, but exactly the kind of thing that all boys dream about. Plus, it had an undefinable quality about it that exuded cool. Nicktoons is rebooting the character for a new generation starting June 16th, and here’s a first look at it. Personally, I’m surprised to see very Earth-like cities, streets, and inhabitants in Voltron’s world. Nick says that this new Voltron Force Read more »

Move Aside New Mutants, Avengers Academy….

Move Aside New Mutants, Avengers Academy….

… as you are about to be eclipsed in the world of youth titles! Seeking a change of pace and a more humorous read than Boom’s latest offering, I picked up Image’s new release – Gladstone’s School For World Conquerors; and I am pleased to report I was not disappointed. The title is pretty self-explanatory as to the setting of the story, written by Mark Andrew Smith and illustrated by Armand Villavert. With it’s tongue stuck firmly in it’s cheek, we are treated to the history of the School, a dedication to one man’s repeated failure, and slowly we meet the pupils. Without endless exposition, we learn many important facts Read more »

How Star Wars Characters Look in Vectors

How Star Wars Characters Look in Vectors

So did you like the “surprise” that Lucasfilm had in store for the legions of Star Wars fans all over the world? I don’t know about you, but it seemed that it was a disappointment to some people. While everyone is looking forward to the Blu-Ray set, September the 16th is still a far way off. While you wait, why not try to do something aside from twiddle your thumbs? Maybe the art of Jessica Finson can help you with that. This DeviantArtist has made a name for herself for her awesome vector art, and among her work are some of the most known characters from – you guessed it Read more »

Tortoss: Not quite Angry Birds but still sorta fun

Tortoss: Not quite Angry Birds but still sorta fun

Maybe I’m giving them too much credit but if it were not for the fact that Tortoss made it into Adult Swim’s lineup of obscure games, I wouldn’t have bothered. Yes, it’s a rushed version of Angry Birds but I do have to say it kept me entertained for a good 20 rounds. So there’s an apparent secret sub-civilization of tortoises with the bad guys intent on combining the perfect woman-beef patty hybrid. It’s your job as the tortoise warriors to stop these hybrids from being delivered. Just like Angry Birds, you have a full arsenal of tortioses at your disposal. What annoys me greatly is the challenge of not Read more »

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Ends Ezio’s Story

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations Ends Ezio’s Story

Ezio Auditore, the assassin introduced in Assassin’s Creed II and whose life story continued in last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, is about to come full circle in the fourth game in the series, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. And along with the announcement of this new game, Ubisoft’s master plan comes more sharply into focus. Read more »

15 Geeky Corn Mazes

15 Geeky Corn Mazes

As summer approaches, the days grow longer and corn fields around the world are turned into life-sized mazes for amusement patrons to enjoy. The vast majority of these “corn mazes” are designed to look (from the air) like farms or other middle-America favorites like race cars. But now and then, a geeky farmer will create a maze in the shape of something from pop culture. Here are 15 of the best. Read more »

Whisky Power: Electricity of the Future?

Whisky Power: Electricity of the Future?

I’ve always maintained that whisky is good for mankind. It can not only soothe frazzled nerves, but it can also be used to disinfect wounds. Whisky can be used for cooking as well. I am sure you can add so much more to the uses of whisky, but try to beat this: it seems that whisky just might help with generating electrical power! Scotland is known for many things, but whisky is perhaps the number one thing that we think of when this country is mentioned. Now, the very same whisky that has helped put Scotland in the map is now going to power the country – electrically speaking. Basically, Read more »

Transformers in High-Res Glory

Transformers in High-Res Glory

The Transformers: Dark of the Moon video game is inching closer to release, and I know past releases in the series haven’t exactly instilled confidence, but still, we have good reason to cling to high hopes for this one. A new batch of screenshots just came down the pike from Activision and developer High Moon Studios, and I’m willing to admit that I may be alone in this, but I think some of the Transformers in these high-res shots look nearly as good as their movie counterparts. Oh, how I wish we could get a truly killer Transformers game. Talk about wish fulfillment for every man who was a Read more »
