Be Your Own Souvenir! Create an incredible 3D figurine of yourself

Be Your Own Souvenir! Create an incredible 3D figurine of yourself

As a child my mother didn’t have the disposable income necessary to provide my brother and I with the latest and greatest toys on the market. Instead, on rare occasions we received a G.I. Joe action figure, but more often than not we were presented with a plastic bag of small, green, army figures. These figures and our imagination occupied much of our formative years. Read more »

Star Wars Blu-ray Details

Star Wars Blu-ray Details

George Lucas just keeps milking his cash cow (to death), and we just keep drinking his milk(shake). I love mixed metaphors. Anyhow, Lucasfilm today announced that the entire Star Wars saga will arrive on high-definition Blu-ray on September 12th all over the world, except for North America, which will be getting it on September 16th. And there’s more than 40 hours of bonus features. Here’s the breakdown. Read more »

Malignant Man

Malignant Man

As always, I am an eager shopper when it comes to Boom’s new releases, but I must confess that despite an attractive cover, I waited a little while before fully reading Malignant Man. It was the first few pages; I put the comic down before reading any further. Truth be told, the subject matter hit too close to home. The title opens with a man awaiting his results regarding his cancer. The results were not good, and then the story reveals that the cancer in question is a brain tumour. In the past year I have a friend who was diagnosed with exactly the same, in an inoperable position; and Read more »

Happy Star Wars Day 2011!

Happy Star Wars Day 2011!

While the rest of the world gears up to have tons of fun for Cinco de Mayo tomorrow, the hordes of Star Wars fans are ready to pay tribute to their passion. May 4 is unofficially (I don’t know what will make it official) Star Wars Day. Sometimes, people also call it Luke Skywalker Day. Whatever you want to call it, today is definitely a geek holiday. Of all the 365 days in a year, why was May 4th chosen to be Star Wars Day? We all know the line “May the Force be with you”. Play around a little with the words and you get “May the Fourth be Read more »

Abbotabad Compound as a CS Map?

Abbotabad Compound as a CS Map?

In the near future, we’re pretty much going to see a cs_abbotabad map in every first person shooter game. In the near future, all first person shooter games will have, in some form, an assault mission that resembles Bin Laden’s last stand: Chopper cinematic. Troops rappel in. Lots of gunfire and a bullet time finale with Osama Bin Laden. Read more »

This Game of Thrones Theme Cover Will Get Your Blood Pumping

This Game of Thrones Theme Cover Will Get Your Blood Pumping

If you haven’t watched HBO’s Game of Thrones yet, you really owe it to yourself to set aside time to watch it. In spite of the criticism that it has received – essentially due to being NSFW – the TV series based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire books is fast gaining a horde of followers. And no matter what you end up thinking about the plot, characters, etc., I think that you will agree that the opening theme of the show is impressive. It’s something that seems to be inherent in stories about kings, wars, castles, dragons, and what have you. The background music has Read more »

What is Assassin’s Creed: Revelations?

What is Assassin’s Creed: Revelations?

There’s a new Assassin’s Creed game coming (and it’s a safe bet it’ll be out around Christmas of this year), and Ubisoft is teasing it on Facebook. Using a viral marketing campaign, users can choose to share news about this campaign with others, and once an unspecified target number of “shares” have been sent by users, Ubisoft will reveal the new game’s title. Which is cool and all, but some crafty fans have already determined — by hunting through image directories on Ubisoft’s servers — that the new game is called Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. The game’s logo was found, which you can see at left. Sounds like a direct sequel Read more »

Thor Smashes the Floor – and More!

Thor Smashes the Floor – and More!

By now, countless people have seen Thor. While the official release is still May the 6th in the US, other parts of the world have already been queuing up over the weekend to see the much awaited movie. Sad to say, I was not one of them. Don’t get me wrong – I very much wanted to go to the movies yesterday but it just didn’t happen. Anyway, if you have not heard of the duo Angie and Chad, it’s about time that you did. I actually discovered them earlier this year when I came across their video “I Am Optimus Prime“. I didn’t really like the parody overall, although Read more »
