Legos, provided you can find the little bricks needed to complete a project, provide hours of fun. Whether it’s building a pirate ship, a national landmark, or simply free-form design, Legos are simply a joy, for children. Read more »

Winter Is Coming, B*tches: “Stupid” Ned Stark
Have you gotten into Game of Thrones yet? Call me boring, but one of my favorite characters – even when I read the books – is Ned Stark. His character is so solid that even though you can predict pretty much what he will do, you can’t help but admire how honest and straight he is – to his detriment. I think that’s exactly how the site Winter Is Coming, Bitches came about. It’s obvious where the site’s name comes from, and you have to be pretty straight laced not to be able to laugh at the whole thing. As I said, I love Ned Stark, but his steadfastness does Read more »

Here Comes Aliens: Colonial Marines
Gearbox Software — the creators of Borderlands, and the folks behind the Duke Nukem Forever rescue — is working on an original Aliens game, titled Aliens: Colonial Marines, set in the universe of the popular film franchise. You’ll go head-to-head against those unloveable Xenomorphs (the titular alien creatures) in claustrophobic environments for some good old fashioned jump-out-and-scare-you FPS thrills. Sega (who’s publishing the game) and Gearbox have been very secretive on the game’s plot and how it fits into the overall Aliens universe. Is it before the movies? After? In between? But they’ve finally released a short synopsis describing the game’s setup: Aliens: Colonial Marines begins with an ostensibly abandoned Read more »
Dungeons and Dragons Cupcakes
We at ForeverGeek are huge fans of cupcakes – especially geeky cupcakes. And what is geekier (or nerdier, perhaps) than Dungeons and Dragons? If you are looking for inspiration for your forays into the kitchen as a cupcake maker, there is no other place to look than Instructables, where there is a very comprehensive set of instructions on how to make Dungeons and Dragons cupcakes. These cupcakes do not rely on a specific cupcake recipe – the instructions actually leave the cupcake recipe all up to you. What will take some work is drawing figures from D&D (get someone to sketch for you if need be) and preparing and tracing Read more »
Tales Of Their Death May Be Greatly Exaggerated
So now we have it. DC have announced their plans for September, and yes, we can expect a universe wide reboot, with a staggering (and wallet busting) FIFTY-TWO first issues to be relased that month. That of course is not withstanding their plans for same-day digital release of comics. Now, as a reader, I find myself in a quandary here. I feel like a dog with two bones, with my loyalties torn. Let’s take these reactions step by step. So, we can expect revamped characters “reflecting today’s real world themes and events”. Well, I’ve heard this before, and although I hope this will lead to a more racially diverse major Read more »
